Old friends and new

Last night was just awesome. Weird, but awesome.

As you may remember, Danielle and I had planned on getting together and having a few drinks for the first time in probably about a year and a half. Burying the proverbial hatchet and moving on in life, and with our friendship. I know she was nervous, and I probably was a tiny bit... but I really didn't feel that way to tell you the truth. I just felt, deep down inside, that everything was going to be okay... that we're older, more mature... wiser... now and that it would out to be okay.

And, you know, it was just like that. I didn't feel any uncomfort whatsoever... and no buried, smoldering anger like there was before. My heart was just happy to be around her again.... and Erin as well.

Because Erin found out we were going out and ended up swinging by the bar to meet with us. It had been even longer for them to have seen each other. And wow... for the first time in years... there didn't seem to be any holding back between them. No fear, no shame, no guilt.... just general happiness to see each other.

We were.... 3 people that used to love each other so much, and be such important parts in each others lives.... that finally just went back to the way (for the first time in SO long!) they were in the beginning. Enjoying each others awesome personalities, and just how fucking amazingly well we get along... and LAUGH... together!

There was always so much laughter with us.

I'm so glad we've got our laughter back. Our REAL laughter.

Oh wow... I'm actually crying, thinking about it!

You know what I loved about them....? Honest to God, whenever I was with them... I felt like I was part of something special. That there were two people who had my back... who completed me in some weird way. I felt like I could share my deepest inner thoughts... and inner perversions (hah)... and sense of humor... and sadnesses... and spiritual thoughts... More with them, than with anyone else. Ever. They were the two people that I could honestly always be around.

It was shocking to me, in a way, that they pulled away... that our lives changed... that they went away. But actually, *I* had my share in that. I went to New Orleans... I had to "find" myself... see new places, meet new people... discover *me*.

But you know what I've discovered?

That in all those new places.... and all those new people I met... not a single one of them was a Danielle or Erin.

<*wipes tears away>

I'm so glad that we've been given another chance. Granted... we probably won't get to see each other that often (though God, if I could, I would go out with them every week!), because of our busy lives... but I think things are back to where they should be. We've healed our friendship... and I'll probably thank God for that for the rest of my life.

When we do get chances to be together, to be happy together, now and then... it will always be amazing. And we should always be happy for those times we *can* spend together.

I think we all make each other better people... and what we've gone through... and GOTTEN THROUGH... makes us even more special.

PS - And they really liked Nikki (and even Norm! haha)... which means a lot to me too, because Nikki has come to mean A LOT to *me*. The fact that she works so well with my absolute best friends in the world is awesome. :)

friends, danielle, erin
