Today it is still rainy and gloomy but thankfully we aren't getting snow like some of my friends journeytoernie are getting.

Peter's lacrosse game was cancelled because of standing water on the fields. I am sad about it because they only have three or four games during the whole season. Mostly it is practices to learn the game and then I guess next year they have more "games". Also sad because now I have to go to Karate on my least favorite night of the month. Tonight is Fight Night. I HATE fight night. I suck at it. Not fast enough, can't concentrate on defending myself and trying to hit the other guy. Always get clobbered. But...am slightly better than I used to be so I guess if I keep trying eventually I might suck less? Peter will be sad that his game is cancelled but he LOVES fight night.

This week is going to be a killer:
Tonight - Lacrosse....Karate
Tuesday - Peter and Hannah have Hebrew school from 4:15 - 6:15, Peter has a Pack meeting where he is getting the Aleph award at 7. Hannah has soccer practice at 7 and I have my Hebrew class at 7. I am going to have to miss my class. Missed it last week too to take Hannah to the Mall for her band/chorus performance. Oh, and Peter has lacrosse practice at 6. He is going to miss that to go to the Pack meeting.
Wednesday - I am working. Jeff is judging presentations at NJIT, his alma mater so Jeff's parents are taking the kids after school.
Thursday - Take your kid to work day. Jeff is taking the kids. I am off but am going to a work related meeting. Before the meeting my friend CL and I are going to work on the book proposal. Lacrosse practice, soccer practice....
Friday - blessedly nothing. Dinner with Jeff's parents.
Saturday - soccer, I work and then we have a Synagogue party at night.
Sunday - Sunday School

We have been good about planning out our meals but with all the various evening things our meals have been scattered and have leaned towards the "I'll pick up a pizza" rather than anything else. This week I bought sandwich stuff and packed sandwiches for us all to eat at the game which of course was cancelled. I can't win.

I did get a boatload of scapping done on my weekend away. 16 pages! I have to take some pics of them and post them here.

We got most of the passover stuff boxed up and put away. I spent some time yesterday putting all the regular stuff away and rearranging a bit. Then spent a lot of time working with Peter to clean up his room. Made him pull out his dresser and clean behind it, clean behind his bed, under his bookcase. That sort of thing. Was so much fun.

Continuing on the around the house theme, we need a new shed. Jeff is going to have someone lay a concrete foundation but he thinks he can assemble the shed himself. In addition we are going to need a new sliding door for the den, there might be a crack in the foundation and Jeff wants to see if we can take a wall down between the dining room and the den. Looks like the kitchen is going to need to be redone sooner rather than later. We were hoping to stall for a few more years but I don't think so.

Did manage to finish a book or two recently. Read The Far Side of the Sky. Excellent historical fiction about a family of Jews from Austria who flee along with thousands of others to Shanghai right after Kristallnacht in 1938. Also read Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots by Deborah Feldman. This one was interesting but didn't knock my socks off. It is a memoir by a young woman who was raised Satmar (a very strict religious sect of Hasidic Jews) and left it all behind. It was interesting because it explained some basic philosophy ideas that I was unaware of and gave an insider's view of something that I am unfamiliar with. Now I am in between books. Have to read Neil Gaiman's American God for book group. I downloaded a bunch of free books to my phone using a site called Pixel of Ink which has lots of free books but they are not by best selling authors, they are smaller lesser known works but some are pretty good. Waiting for a few books by favorite authors to come out. May is not a great month for blockbusters. Most authors will hold off until June, July and August. That's okay. I can wait.

Hope everyone has a happy Monday!
