Report Cards nad more

Got the kids report cards yesterday.  They were not great. Didn't expect Hannah's to be since she hasn't exactly been doing her homework but was surprised that Peter's wasn't great.  Spoke to his teacher today. Mainly she said that he needs to slow down and not rush through assignments.  Oh, and the he needs to be neater and more organized.  Ha! Told her that we struggle with that at home too.  Overall he is doing okay but we both know that can do better.  She also mentioned that his writing is hard to read, that he doesn't push hard enough on the pencil so it is light on the paper.  That is something that my SIL said her son is having trouble with too. I wonder if it is the CMT rearing its ugly head or if it is something else.  Need to call the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia where we had our evals and talk to the Occupational Therapists.  Hannah's report card was okay.  She got a 99 in Social Studies and a 93 in Math.  Reading and writing were not great. Science I think was okay too.  We have a meeting scheduled with her teacher for next week.  It has been an ongoing saga of she and her teacher not getting along mostly due to Hannah's getting off on the wrong foot and never recovering.  However, now according to Hannah it is affecting the way the teacher treats her in class.  She doesn't get called on or chosen for special jobs.  So Hannah is dejected and puts even less effort into her work which just continues the awful cycle.  We have let up on the grounding because that was affecting her social life.  She doesn't have a lot of friends and wasn't being included in parties or playdates.  Same for Peter but he doesn't seem to mind whereas she really felt left out.  We are trying to make an effort to keep them included and invite friends over but it is hard and it seems like there is no time.  Hopefully over the summer we can make up for it.

Been looking at travel sites to get an idea of how much a trip to Israel is going to cost us and I honestly don't know if we can swing it. Even with the money Gigi left us.  The tours run between 2,700 a person all the way up to 5,000 a person.  Generally the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child is free but you still have airfare which is crazy expensive to Israel.  Jeff and I need to sit down and talk honestly about it. I know it is bothering him too. Maybe we would be better of taking a trip in between her Bat Mitzvah and Peter's Bar Mitzvah because the idea of two trips is just way too expensive.  We'll see. I so want to be able to do this for them but I just don't see how we can spend that kind of money.

We'll see.  Back to work for me.  I have book orders to place and papers to sort through.
