- some fucking teenager in daddy's SUV sideswiped me in glendale and took off. boo. not too badly damaged though, just paint transfer and a couple little dents. still, WTF yo!
- I'm leaving for washington.....soon.....i think. I'm very excited.
- but, i also tried for the last month to get my shit together on what i had to do for summer job. asked everyone, tried to collect web update info. and got nothin. 3 days ago get two jobs that must be done before school starts. grrr. lady i have to work with not back til the 18th, i'm leaving the 18th. it's all computer work and
- my video card had to be replaced twice this summer. some kind of defect. makes taking my computer with me and relying on it to get work done slightly nerveracking. but no one really has any clue how long techy work takes so i'm usually pretty ok since they think its really hard and takes a long time and it actually is really easy and takes like an hour.
- my momma bought me a GPS unit for my car. sweeeeeeet. i told her it was a safety issue. it actually is too - i got a flat tire last time i went to washington and had to walk up the 5 with marls looking for a road sign. eek. it was scary.
- my rents are taking me and truc to the hollywood bowl next thursday. yay! swanky swanky box seats too cuase a supplier for their business owns a box and gives them tickets once a year. fun.
- i'm trying to prevent myself from buying a million things for carolyn's kids. i know she doesn't want to instill consumerism and materialism in them, which i totally understand, but part of me still want to spoil them ridiculously.
- i need to write a prospectus for my dissertation and still don't know which media texts i want to use or which ones fit together. need to do oral defense soon cause fellowship apps are due in november and december and i have a better chance of getting one if i've advance to candidacy by the time of applications. every day am less sure this will actually happen.
- reading annoying essentialist book about passing "Self-Made Man" it sucks. don't read it. also working and pile of books to lug to carolyns: probably will bring Black Like Me, Soul Sister, Bessy Yellowhair, and a couple theory books on Heidegger, Sartre, and authenticity. yes I am a total nerd. but on the bright side, it's quite likely that over 3 weeks i will only read one book........
- Eli - wanna hang out? what's your work schedule like? i don't exactly know when i will be driving up or back.....sorry. probably a week day though.....
- pepes coming over tomorrow for bbq and 1990s trivial pursuit. again, yes, i am that nerdy.
