I was on the F train, actually snorting. People glared at me as I passed 34th street. But it’s SMeyers, we’re cynical New Yorkers, we need to snicker.
And yes, she’s a cruel hypocrite.
Handy little thing called a dictionary for Bella.
Cruel-deliberately and remorselessly causing pain or anguish. Leading a guy on would therefore be…cruel.
Hypocrite-somebody who pretends to have admirable principles, beliefs, or feelings but behaves otherwise. Not being afraid of a monster who considers you a food source, but being afraid of one who does is hypocritical. And stupid. Mostly the second.
Jacob was an excellent sport, considering Bella was a suicidal manic depressive who actively dreamed of losing her humanity and had no dreams of college or any life besides that person. I’d have pushed her off the cliff myself. “You want to die so badly? Here.”
Honestly, Edward and Bella’s love is horribly tainted, because it’s a selfish love. The two mope around suicidal-like without the other person. I have had my heart broken and I’ve managed to get over it. My best friend and former crush is getting married. Yes, we broke up badly, but I’m his wife’s maid of honor and I am happy for them. I wanted him to move on, and he wanted me to move on. We’ve both found happiness. That’s what love is, wanting the other person happy. They just feel miserable and don’t care that their moping is burdensome.
And yes, SMeyers has a habit of contradicting herself to make sure Edward looks good. The werewolves were peaceful, protective, and good? She had to make them dangerous to make sure Bella never really has a choice.
I agree with you, Smeyer is upsetting because Edward/Bella, Jacob/Bella, and Sam/Emily are all relationships where the women live in terror of the men’s power. If the men lose control, the women can die, since they are powerless and defenseless. I’m not saying Emily should have left him, but if my guy marred my face up, I’d not be Mummy in the kitchen for him and his pack like nothing ever happened.
When I saw that treaty, I was overjoyed. Jacob was standing up for Bella and saying that Edward would have real consequences if he hurt her or damned her. If Bella was a nicer person, I’d say kiss him. Unappreciative bitch that she is, she sees it as bad. When he tells on her, (her being suicidal) and gets her bike taken away, it was responsible. He just said “You need help.” He doesn’t drag her around, he just sets it on the table and says he won’t be part of her road to hell. Why can’t more Jacobs exist?
And hehe, Edward doesn’t see humans as precious. He thinks they’re vapid idiots who care about things like free will and personal boundries. And that’s why he likes Bella.
