New Moon

Yep, I'm doing one of these for each of them. If I have to be inexplicably obsessed with getting through this crap, you have to suffer too.

I still watch Grey's Anatomy, and I have NO idea why...is this really a surprise? )

"Good GOD, how is it possible that she is turning 18 and is even more bratty than she was in the last book? I am only a few pages in and I want her to die, horribly. It's her birthday and she's all angry and emo because now she's older than Edward and will only keep getting older and he (being the unreasonable tyrant he is) refuses to take her humanity."

Because eternal marriage to a teenager is the greatest gift possible? Because the man always must be older and more mature and powerful? Tell, SMeyer, enlighten me with your wisdom.

""You're such a hypocrite, Bella-there you sit, terrified of me! How is that fair?" His hands shook with anger.
"Hypocrite? How does being afraid of a monster make me a hypocrite?""

That actually had me giggling out loud on an NYC train. Bella needs a vocabulary lesson, or a clue-bat. Seriously, for a girl who is a "genius" in English, she's so dense in simple conversations.

"I was like a lost moon-my planet destroyed in some cataclysmic, disaster-movie scenario of desolation-that continued, nevertheless, to circle in a tight little orbit around the empty space left behind, ignoring the laws of gravity."

Now, I'm sick. Seriously, women can survive breakups without being reduced to emotional wrecks, Smeyer. Seriously, we can deal with it.

""And girls are cruel," Mike said under his breath.
I supposed that was an easy assumption to make, too."

No, Bella, in your case, it's true. Jacob deserves so much better. I hope Victoria grinds your bones to make her bread.

"Stupid bitch. So you'd settle for him just to have someone, and doom him to trying to make you happy while you pine away for someone else?"

In a word, yes. Jacob is a warm blooded, nice guy, with a wonderful supportive family who doesn't constantly want to eat you, who will allow you to have a normal life while still dating him, and he's second best?

Also, did you get as sickened as me by Emily, Smeyer's way of making the werewolves more dangerous? To me, it said that women are constantly in threat to these "supernatural men"'s temper and will take abuse and suffering because it's love.

""" Jacob still glowered at Edward, but he answered me. "The treaty is quite specific. If any of them bite a
human, the truce is over. Bite, not kill," he emphasized. Finally, he looked at me. His eyes were cold.

Oh, snap! Werewolves = 1, Bella = 0. """

That was actually a great moment, I didn't Smeyer had it in her.

And replace Edward with drugs. If Jacob knew Bella was a meth addict and got her into trouble to keep her away from meth, we'd think he's a good guy. So why is him preventing her from being near a predator who sees her kind as good a bad thing?

Ahahahah, first of all, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was reading Twilight and laughing my ass off on NYC buses. Once I was doubled over laughing at the Columbus and 79th bus stop and people were looking at me like I was out of my mind.

I forgot she was supposed to be so great in English...and yet acts as though it isn't her first language.

Jacob didn't deserve what Bella did to him. Mostly I'm like, whatever, you "love" who you "love" (those are in quotation marks because they aren't in love, they are in a supernatural obsession) but her stringing Jacob along for her own benefit was just disgusting.

Yeah, I thought it was funny how she was trying to make the werewolves appear to be more dangerous. I was like, look, if in your dumbass mythology werewolves are good, they aren't bloodthirsty themselves, they only go after vampires, then don't try to make them seem like they're more dangerous to humans (/their women) than the vampires.

Otherwise, yes, Emily represented the dutiful woman, who stands by her man no matter what and keeps the home. SMeyer has a really low opinion of women.

I liked that moment as well. SMeyer gets one or two in there. Hell, even Britney Spears hits a note once in awhile.

Drugs: BECAUSE OME, EDWARD IS DIFFERENT!! HE RESPECTS HUMANS AS PRECIOUS AND HE LOVES AND RESPECTS BELLA AND JACOB HAD NO RIGHT TO BUTT HIS SNOUT INTO THEIR RELATIONSHIP!!!

*rolls eyes*

I was on the F train, actually snorting. People glared at me as I passed 34th street. But it’s SMeyers, we’re cynical New Yorkers, we need to snicker.

And yes, she’s a cruel hypocrite.

Handy little thing called a dictionary for Bella.

Cruel-deliberately and remorselessly causing pain or anguish. Leading a guy on would therefore be…cruel.

Hypocrite-somebody who pretends to have admirable principles, beliefs, or feelings but behaves otherwise. Not being afraid of a monster who considers you a food source, but being afraid of one who does is hypocritical. And stupid. Mostly the second.

Jacob was an excellent sport, considering Bella was a suicidal manic depressive who actively dreamed of losing her humanity and had no dreams of college or any life besides that person. I’d have pushed her off the cliff myself. “You want to die so badly? Here.”

Honestly, Edward and Bella’s love is horribly tainted, because it’s a selfish love. The two mope around suicidal-like without the other person. I have had my heart broken and I’ve managed to get over it. My best friend and former crush is getting married. Yes, we broke up badly, but I’m his wife’s maid of honor and I am happy for them. I wanted him to move on, and he wanted me to move on. We’ve both found happiness. That’s what love is, wanting the other person happy. They just feel miserable and don’t care that their moping is burdensome.

And yes, SMeyers has a habit of contradicting herself to make sure Edward looks good. The werewolves were peaceful, protective, and good? She had to make them dangerous to make sure Bella never really has a choice.

I agree with you, Smeyer is upsetting because Edward/Bella, Jacob/Bella, and Sam/Emily are all relationships where the women live in terror of the men’s power. If the men lose control, the women can die, since they are powerless and defenseless. I’m not saying Emily should have left him, but if my guy marred my face up, I’d not be Mummy in the kitchen for him and his pack like nothing ever happened.

When I saw that treaty, I was overjoyed. Jacob was standing up for Bella and saying that Edward would have real consequences if he hurt her or damned her. If Bella was a nicer person, I’d say kiss him. Unappreciative bitch that she is, she sees it as bad. When he tells on her, (her being suicidal) and gets her bike taken away, it was responsible. He just said “You need help.” He doesn’t drag her around, he just sets it on the table and says he won’t be part of her road to hell. Why can’t more Jacobs exist?

And hehe, Edward doesn’t see humans as precious. He thinks they’re vapid idiots who care about things like free will and personal boundries. And that’s why he likes Bella.
