Oh Gabby, I'm so glad that you saw the movie... I've seen it 6 times now, and I've seen some scenes (the one you quotes, for instance), a hundred times... Not only are they remarkably acted and moving and just, UGH, beautiful, they're SO SO SO well written, and the prose just... they really say something.
Umm, I'm not trying to force anything on you, but I wrote a review of the movie a while back, on, like the 16th of December after I'd seen the movie for the 2nd time. It's here if you want to read it. It took me an entire week to really process it, and after seeing it more times, I'm sure there are things I'd say differently... but, yeah, it's there if you want read it.
I'm sure if you read my LJ, you can't miss it, 'cause I'm always talking about it. I'm always excited when people see the movie - that way they are more likely to understand that it's not just "two beautiful 'cowboys' in love" that make me love it so much... It just, it does something to you, inside. It brings up emotions that, I feel, not a lot of people recognize or feel often. And that's a powerful thing, when a film can do that.
It's weird you talk about this scene, 'cause I just updated my LJ with the transcript to that part-- it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Check it out, if you'd like. =)
PS. Don't even get me started on how I think Alma (Michelle Williams) is the most subtlely brilliant roles I've seen all year.
