(no subject)
so, to probably the surprise of many, i saw "brokeback mountain."
and....my thoughts are all jumbled.
this movie, like "crash" did, made me think about things that i've never really thought of before. i can't imagine what it would be like to love someone for years, and know that no one can ever know.
surprisingly, i saw more of myself in ennis. the way that he handled his emotions, like anger and frustration, were more like jack. but, like jack, i would want to share my dreams with the one that i loved too.
as far as the wives were, i couldn't imagine living with the knowledge about their husbands. michelle williams delievered a really truthful portrayal, i thought. it definitely showed how a secret can tear you up inside, for all four of them.
ennis: [crying] Well, why don't you? Why don't you just let me be? It's because of you that I'm like this! I ain't got nothing... I ain't nowhere... Get the fuck off me! I can't stand being like this no more, Jack.
that scene...killed me. it really made me see that when one person backs out, the other is truly left with nothing. real proof that love is all we have in this world.
