Well, well, well, you just can't tell

Upon watching Anchorman: The Ron Burgundy Story last night, I quickly realized how odd it was that I had rented it on the heels of Working Girl, a movie about women determined to overcome obstacles to succeed in the modern business world, and Broadcast News, a movie about the sexual politics behind a news team that features a talented reporter working against a more prominent reporter whom they know that they’re better than. Maybe I’m the only one crazy enough to make these connections, and maybe comparing it to two seminal, damn good 80’s comedies does Anchorman a disservice as I did very much enjoy it. But I just thought that it was odd how it almost parodied the themes of the other films. Also? It was the fourth time this week I've heard a rendition of "Rockets In Flight" or "Afternoon Delight" or whatever it's called--I saw the episode of Arrested Development in which Maebe and Michael sing it karaoke, Matt Damon starts singing it to annoy is shrink in Good Will Hunting, ostinatarosa used it in a lyric quiz (okay, so I didn't hear it per se...) and then the news crew does it up barbershop-style. And I've never even heard the song all by itself! Pretty weird, no?

My name is Basil Utter, and I notice patterns even the guys behind Freakanomics wouldn't spot.

In other news I just worked my last shift at the Inn! It went very well; I worked pretty hard I'd think and I feel I ended on a good note. So the gameplan is to have a good time tonight, bring everything back to mom's tomorrow and pack, go to the Labor Dabor shindig at Mason's Island tomorrow night, and go down to Drew about 36 hours from now! From there? Have a good time! Learn shit! And get a fridge ASAP with the help of an awesome, yet-to-be-named car-enabled friend. Sound good? I'd say so!

Now if you'll excuse me, I don't want to bring this Smirnoff down to Jersey, so I'll just be off now. Peace, y'all!
