The other day, I watched one of the funniest pure comedies I have seen in quite a while--What's Up, Doc? I remember reading in Soc last semester that you are about ten times more likely to laugh if you're with people than if you're alone. And as someone who watches a lot of movies alone, I completely agree with this notion. But even so! The finale was this massive car chase through the streets of San Francisco, and minute by minute it got more and more ridiculous until I just was laughing and laughing just because it was so well done. So...I'd heartily recommend it to people. And I had never seen anything with Barbara Streisand--just heard people making fun of her--so I wasn't expecting much, but she was really cute. Also, there was a German (I think?) musicologist in it who looked really familiar and at first I thought it was the Nazi playwright from The Producers and then realized it was the German dude ranch owner from Malcolm In The Middle--and he turned out to be both! Which I thought was pretty cool.

Okay, so apparently last week's Entertainment Weekly sported this cover:

However, earlier this summer I decided not to renew my subscription, shortly thereafter deciding, in fact, that I needed my fix so I got a new subscription. Which hasn't started yet for some reason. And so Thursday and yesterday I went on a trek to find this most wondrous of issues. Easy, right? But no! I went to (in order) a gas station, a CVS, the McQuades in Westerly, another gas station, the McQuades in Mystic, the Westerly Stop & Shop and finally (I am ashamed to say) Wal*Mart. But it wasn't anywhere to be found. I don't know why. At two places, I saw last week's Miami Vice cover (which I guess was the last issue of my old subscription), but no sign of Snakes On A Plane anywhere. I am at a loss as to what that'd mean--either the truck that was supposed to supply the Mystic-Westerly area with magazines was waylaid? Or everyone jumped at the chance to find out more about Samuel L. Jackson's snake-wrangling ordeals. I just know that I really want that issue and do not know how to obtain it. And that I felt very elitist when I was in Wal*Mart.

Also, yesterday I experienced a weird musical irony: it was a little after seven so the sun was low in the sky. As I turned a corner (on the way to McQuades #2), "Here Comes The Sun" came on my iPod and Pow! I was blinded by the sun. I thought it was pretty weird. You may not think so, which is your right.

Lastly? starryskies mentioned Wikibios in her LJ the other day, and I thought it was sorta a cool idea. Basically, you all write a Wikipedia-style biography for me. So...if you are interested in something like that? You should do it!
