Personal Life Updates, TV shows, and a Rant about a Certain LJ Community...

Life has been very busy, lately, which has been good but also means I'm behind on stuff. I'm so excited about SYTYCD, it's one of my favorite summer things. And I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm loving The Bachelorette. It's such a mess, but I totally love how sweet Emily is, and almost all the guys are extremely attractive. So it makes for fun watching. Anyway, updates!

I went to grad school orientation this week (I'm going for speech-language pathology this fall)! Woohoo it was such fun! I met all the other members of my class; there's a little under 30 of us, and only 2 are male. Ha, typical in this field. But we went over all the classes we'll be taking, clinic scheduling, financial aid (I'm slightly worried about this part...), externships, and we got to go on a tour of all the facilities which was excellent. I'm super excited about the externship part of the program, because that means for the last two semesters I'll be allowed to go just about anywhere in the southeast! I'm thinking I might try to be on the beach...or maybe Orlando so I can go to Disney World all the time :) I'm definitely going to enjoy my summer, but I'm really excited to start grad school in August. And I got my housing situation set up, so I'll be living with a really cool girl in a nice house, and the best part is that rent is super low. I think that has to do with the fact that it's kind of the middle of nowhere, but at least I won't be distracted from studying.

One of my best friends came into town with one of her friends last week for a festival here. It was so fantastic to see her and I wish we could have hung out 24/7. Her friend was okay, just really negative about stuff so I didn't want to spend too much time around her. It was great getting to show my friend around, though, and I really hope I can visit her in the next year. Haha, saving money is everything right now, though.

TRUE BLOOD: OMG so good!! All the feels ever. Steve Newlin was amazing fantastic idek. Jason is adorable and I do love looking at him. Ummm I reeeeeeally want Sookie and Alcide to get on each other immediately. And I think watching Magic Mike will cause this desire to grow exponentially. I think I'm the only person that wanted Tara to stay dead, but hey, maybe Vampire!Tara will change my mind. So anyway, this show is still full of gorgeous people with hilarious scenes and I'll watch it forever.

BORGIAS: Oh goooshhh Cesare finally did it!! They killed Juan! David Oakes is such a great actor, portrayed Juan perfectly, and while I think the character's exit was perfection, I will miss the actor a ton. Jeremy Irons is so perfect in his part, he makes me laugh so much and eventually I want to try and watch all of his movies (especially the historical ones). I have a feeling tomorrow night's episode (the finale) will be incredible. I can't wait.

Saving Hope: I'm trying out this show because Daniel Gillies (Elijah from Vampire Diaries) is on it. And so is Erica Durance (Lois from Smallville). I love love love both of these actors, and they're good on this show, but...tbh I just don't get that into medical shows. They've never appealed all that much to me, and tbqh I'm not a fan of hearing about the grosser (to me) aspects of bodily functions. I really want to see Daniel Gillies become a regular on Vampire Diaries, but it sounds like that won't be happening.

There's a few members in a certain community that are really annoying me. They seem to think that their opinions are THE opinions, and disagreeing with them makes you simple-minded, racist, sexist, ageist, a sad fangirl, etc etc. One user actually said that she thought the majority of the fandom didn't understand logic. They pretty much take over every post with this negative, hateful attitude and it makes not even want to post because I don't want to get dragged into anything. Their attitude toward people who just want to be happy fans is so aggravating. Apparently me not seeing racism everywhere in the show is being racist? And the fact that I just want to squee over a certain character's hotness or a favorite ship having a cute moment makes me a shallow fan?

When watching a show, I honestly don't care to discuss "real-world" issues. I watch shows for entertainment and escape. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and for those people to act like I'm a bad fan/person for that is ridiculous. Now I have a met several lovely and delightful people in this community, and generally I enjoy the watch-along and speculation posts. I tried to avoid those "deeper" posts, but now the people who would be rude in those are starting to be rude in every thread. So I'm just not if I should forget about the community until the show starts up again or what.

I hope all my lovely friends and acquaintances are doing well! I miss talking with a lot of you since so many of our shows are on summer break.
