Brief A-Kon Overview

Seeing as how I've never been to A-Kon before, I'm going to be making a lot of LJ entries about it. Therefore, bracing yourselves is highly recommended.

Thursday started with a long bus ride from Kansas City, MO. Got into Dallas at about 1515, give or take, whereupon I promptly got ripped off by a cab driver who got pissed because another cab driver had flagged him down. Went to the pre-reg after unpacking, and ran into MJ Helium quite by accident. Later that evening, I ran into DMO, Drew, Keeper of Stanley, Valos, and Tek. DMO was educating some fanboys who were all on the Naruto bandwagon. Tek was hanging around, and he didn't have a room for the night, so I took pity on him and let him stay in my room.

Friday morning up until noon was kind of a drag. I kept throwing up, as a result of running into MJ Helium and Tek. I think I wore my sunglasses until about 1900, and I wasn't able to eat or drink most of the day, either. Managed to get onto the Anime Match Game PM while hung over, and managed to win some prizes while hung over, too. Kind of embarassed myself a bit, but I'm hoping Tiffany Grant forgives me.

Oh yeah, Friday night. It can be summed up by the words "Gungrave" and "karaoke". I sort of ended up helping to run Friday night karaoke, along with Harold, who is a delightfully awesome guy, and not afraid to act completely goofy in the name of good fun. Then again, I do that too, so I guess that's why we got along so well. I did at least seven songs on Friday night, and people actually said they liked my singing. I guess all that farking practice I did paid off, even if I didn't have much of an audience.

Saturday was cool, too. Got me a set of swords from the dealer's room. $60 for the katana, wakizashi, tanto, and the rack. Not bad, considering that all I need them for was practicing iaido. Plus decoration. Boardie panel wasn't too bad. Took a nap after a while because I like not feeling completely tired.

Saturday night can be summed up by two phrases: "Art of Life" and "Boobs plz. 'K thanks." I'll elaborate later for those of you who don't know.

Sunday sucked, as a rule. Mostly spent my Sunday at A-Kon hanging out with The Mer. That's not a bad thing, not in the least. She's a great example of a human being, and someone that I'd probably be best friends with if it weren't for the fact that she lives in Tuscon, AZ.

Next up: Impressions of Boardies.
