Status report.
Okay, here's how things stand for me as far as A-Kon goes:
1) I'll be there Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I will be leaving early Monday morning, and I'll be arriving Thursday afternoon, sometime after lunch.
2) I'm staying in the somethingorother, and not the Adam's Mark. It's cheaper for me, and it's got to be better than a Manhattan hotel room, so whatever.
3) My cell phone number is (816)694-8710. During the con, feel free to call that number at any time you wish. If I'm not asleep or conducting a matter of personal hygiene, I'll answer the phone.
4) In my room, I'll have my portable DVD player, my MP3 player, and my ghetto computer speaker setup. Also food. I highly doubt I'll be using any of those (except for the food), but it's always good to come prepared.
5) Be prepared to get your picture taken. I've got a roll of film in the camera, and four rolls to spare. I expect to use all of it. If you're camera-shy, then I highly recommend going to your local grocery store, buying a pack of straws, and sucking it up.
I would really, really, really, really appreciate someone who knows their way around (preferably with a car) to meet me somewhere and sort of show me around. Preferably at the Greyhound bus station, if it's not too much trouble. I'll buy you lunch if you do.....unless you eat something like $50 a meal, in which case I'll give you some money towards your lunch. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination.
Did I mention that I would really appreciate someone meeting me when I arrive and showing me around a bit? Especially if they've got a car? It's not that I have a bad sense of direction; I've navigated Manhattan subways whilst piss-drunk before, so I should be able to find my way around. However, it is a pain to drag luggage for a five-day trip around anywhere, whether it's your hometown or a place you've never been before. So be a pal, and get yourself a free meal in the process.
