Swanning Around.. And I’m Not Talking Football

But since I mentioned football in the intro I must say it was a nice grand final moment to watch the finals on TV while we were at the Footscray market and feel the universal appeal of our sport as the people of the world inclined their eyes to the screen as they pondered the relative merits the pile of fruit and veg ( Read more... )

They did a Wallace and Grommit festival on ABC kids in the lead up to the movie and they showed those 3 films and I have been looking for the DVD since then but I haven't found it yet. That penguin was up there with Hannibal Lecter wasn't he?

I may yet do a blog about the Latham thing. Its been quite spectacular. They were going to have an Enough Rope interview on Thursday, 8:30 but it didn't air until 10:30, without explanation. Andrew Denton described Latham as "emotionally unstable" and his diary would seem to ooze bile. And yet its wonderful that someone would be so honest about all the dirty political manouveurs and certainly it must be understandable to have a natural human reaction to that. He's Labour right (liberal lite) so I hardly warm to him politically but at least he made his presence felt in the media and set some agendas. Beazley is so lethargic and only tries to show how right wing he is as if he could undo the Libs! Pointless. The bad thing about this though is that the Libs are probably equally up to their necks in dirty laundry but they are not being held to account. The Young Libs are as fascist and looney as they come and were recently implicated in the suicide attempt of the NSW Lib Opposition leader and they are left to run wild.

Well I'm sure I have my powers of persuasion ;o). In any case, I can just base my rant on our conversations re. the book depending on how much I get to read...

Latham also did interviews for Lateline with Tony Jones and I think they were better interviews than with Denton. He used to be on Lateline all the time and I think he felt much more comfortable with Tony Jones.
