Came back from my afternoon/evening shift at the hospital at a quarter to midnight, and now I can't sleep. Watching an old episode of NCIS and looking for something to read online. I have to wake up at nine at the latest tomorrow, since I have to be back at the hospital at 11.
My sister is doing the night shift, and there was an amazing night nurse there tonight who knew exactly how to clean the tracheo thingy and get rid of the phlegm. Maybe dad will be able to sleep for once! It's so horrible that his comfort depends on who is working. Like how tonight they didn't really do any nighttime preparations for dad, didn't change his clothes or clean his teeth or anything, while other nurses do the whole hygien thing.
I don't know. The days are really turining into each other, and I have no idea what's going on in the real world. Haven't had any night shifts since Friday, but the afternoon/evening shifts have been pretty long and I'm still in no way back in a good sleeping rythm. And tomorrow night should be my shift but i have to take the day shift since my brother was ill, and who else can jump in? Hope he can do the night shift instead, coz otherwise i don't know how we will manage. Mum can't be there alone at the moment, she's freaking out every time dad starts coughing. And sometime of course with right, even if it's been relatively stable since the awful Friday last week. Fingers crossed and knock knock etc.
Every day there is something that goes wrong and something that goes right, and we have to keep hanging on to those small good things. I have no idea how this will end, or when, but we have to get thorugh it. And dad is such an amazing fighter in all this.
