Back in Gothenburg in time for Waffle Day

I'm back in Gothenburg since Thursday afternoon, and things are progressing as they pretty much were before I left for Lund. Dad is still sitting up in the wheel-chair at least once a day, and the physical therapist even got him to stand up (with a LOT of help of course) for a few moment!. He has been coughing a bit and it is still necessary to suck phlegm every couple of hours, but it's not too bad. The experimentation with his Parkinson medication is going so-so. Sligtly less tremor and dyskinesia, but still not under control. Seems like he does need quite a bit less medication than before, which is amazing, but there's a fine balance to reach and we're not there yet.

I spent last night at the hospital, and it was pretty good, I could even rest a bit. But there are always these things you have to look out for, small details that make all the difference for dad. And this morning there were a shortage of nurses so I had to help out with the cleaning and dressing of dad. Can just imagine what would happen if we weren't around all the time. WIll do the night-shift tonight as well, but my brother will join me so he can get a crash-course in the routines before he spends a night there on his own. It's so great that we have each other, and it helps that we can switch around the schedule a bit, so one actually sees the sun once in a while.

We did manage to celebrate the very important Waffle Day yesterday. Mum came home a bit earlier and made waffles before I left for the hospital. It's such a great way to inaugurate springtime every year, and we always send an extra thought to my maternal grandfather who died on the 25th of March seven years ago, and who really loved his waffles.
