iLife Update
Well, friday morning we went to our "New Home Owner Orientation" or something like that. Basically our walk through where they explain various things, and we look for problems that have to be fixed. They now have 3 days to fix them. There were just a few minor things, and some paint touchups. They finally believed me that there was a drain cleanout by the AC compressor after I sent my pictures to a few people and they finally looked at a house that was being constructed. So the Super Intendant took a hammer out, and hit right on the market, and they'll be fixing it now. :)
We're also going Monday morning to sign some closing papers and give our down payment. We got a bit of extra money from the price reductions and such that will help, and we're using the money to buy the stuff we need for the new house. We ended up getting quite a good deal with the price reduction. Just under 35k off the base price, plus 16k for closing cost, of which about 11k was applied to our down payment. I'll go out there wed or thu to verify that everything has been fixed, and then sign off on the house. Since we're signing all of the closing docs monday, we should be able to get the keys on wed. :) Then we'll have a house. :)
We went today to look at appliances(fridge and washer/dryer). I think we've finally picked out what we want. Now we're just looking for good sales and such. :) We've got some time before we need them, so we can wait. :) And if its wait a week and save 200-300 or so, works for us. :) We really need them by the end of the month, although it would be nice to have the fridge earlier. :) We're gonna be over there a bit working on getting the house and yard ready for the rest of the month or so.
This weekend will be painting time mostly, hopefully we can get everything painted we need to. Then we'll put up blinds. We have everything for the downstairs, loft, and our bedroom ordered. We just have to order the other 3 bedrooms, but still deciding on what to put in there. :) After that, there is just some furniture we need to get. :) Looks like we might be moving in the second weekend of June. That should give us enough time to get everything ready, and get Terry on a plane. :)
So that's what's been keeping us occupied recently. Sharon's really glad to have all of the paper work stuff done. Not that she really did much except listen when I said "here, sign right here". :) But *I'M* glad to have that over with. :)
By my next post, we should have a new house. :) And next weekend we're probably gonna be swimming in our new community pool. :) When we were out there on friday, they were doing a lot of the landscaping around the pool, it was filled up, testing chemicals, and all that fun stuff. Hopefully in the next week they'll move the porta-potty out from in front of our house. ;)
