of *course* going to sloopy's party and pubmeet.

I think it'd be better if I wait before giving you the eps, since the last ep is this sunday (it being HBO, there's only ten) - can mail once burned.

I think we've known from the beginning of series 2 of Rome that there wasn't going to be a third - budget issues were given as the reason, and all the cast have moved on to other projects. As much as I'd love them to go on... Actium works really well as a stopping point. I'm still mad that they've made a complete muck of the family tree, but not quite as mad knowing that they're not gonna have to go on with it as it is.

Octavian sex scenes? :falls over in drool puddle:

Um, yes. I had to rewatch this a couple times because I kept getting distracted by Octavian's fine, fine ass and vigorous fucking. And, y'know, I wanted to see if it was, um. Historically accurate fucking. Yes. That's totally it. *cough*

Livia is queen bitch in I, Claudius, played by Siân Phillips, and I sort have had that at the back of my mind while watching the lastest ep. Thinking about it I, Claudius picks up from the end of Octavian (Augustus) reign so is the sequel to Rome really. Less pretty and sexy though. You have to handle the fact that Octavian turns into Brian Blessed, John Hurt is an insane Caligula, and Patrick Stewart turns up with a head of curly hair!

Huh. How close to the books is the 70s series? I read the books in my early teens, and Robert Graves really starts to lose control of the voice/story/characterisation mid-way through Claudius the God.

I've not read the books, so I'm not sure. A brief google revels this website dissecting it.

I'm afraid this is the final series of Rome. They decided before they started that there would be no third series. :-( I've only seen the first couple of episodes of S2 (I don't do torrents and there's no LJ community I've found that has them to d/l, so I've been relying on a friend) but I'm looking forward to getting some quiet time to watch the rest.

My BSG viewing has also been curtailed by the removal of Sky One from my VirginMedia platform. I have a friend sending them over from Toronto instead.

The things I do for my fandoms!
