My high school French teacher and family friend, Edna Baker, passed away early Friday morning from the breast cancer she fought ten years ago, which recently metastasized and got extremely out of control extremely quickly. I know it's typical at this point to say things like, "Life is so short" and to wax philosophical about mortality and death and so on, but really all I can think about--all I've been able to think about for the last five or six days--is what a nice lady she was and what a shame it is to know that she's no longer in the world.
Meanwhile, life goes on for the rest of us. She was strong in her faith and accepted God's plan for her--I hope someday I can say the same about myself.
You are loved and missed, Edna.
