Wonderland is a land full of madness and insanity. It is a place where talking flowers are normal and the queen’s favorite pastime is whacking the heads off her subjects.

One day, this land was visited by a young girl by the name of Alice. Alice’s presence brought about a new era in Wonderland. A new queen was crowned and the Red Queen was banished from Wonderland. Madness and insanity still existed but now Wonderland finally understood the true meaning of peace.

There was to be a huge feast in recognition of Alice’s efforts but on the day of the feast, Alice disappeared. For the first few years, the people searched high and low for Alice but as the years past, they slowly began to forget who Alice was and started to doubt if she ever existed. Eventually all that remained of Alice’s tale was edited into a story for children.

Sungmin is one of those children who grew up listening to the story of Alice; in fact it was her favorite bedtime story. She would read it once every night and she silently hoped one day she would be able to travel to another world in her sleep, like Alice did.

One beautiful spring day, Sungmin was harvesting paperberries* with her sisters when she spotted something pink and fluffy dash past her. It was dog, a pink thieving dog to be precise. It grabbed her basket of fresh paperberries and ran for it. Sungmin chased the dog for she knew she would be in for a world of trouble if her parents found out.

The dog ran further and further away from her house but Sungmin never stopped running after it. It lead her across a river and into a forest when she lost sight of it. By now, the sun had set and Sungmin could barely see her hands in front of her. Her mind was blank and her heart was racing. She took slow steps as she tried to navigate her way out of the dark forest.

“Who goes there?!” A loud voice boomed. Sungmin wanted to run but she couldn’t see where she was headed. Instead she slowly backed away from the direction of the voice and fell into a hole. Not knowing what else to do, Sungmin screamed. At first there was only darkness but as she fell deeper into the hole she could see other stationeries and furniture falling along with her.

All of a sudden, the falling stopped and everything was suspended in mid-air. Before Sungmin could react to the pause she found herself being shot up along with all the other items. She flew out of the hole but she didn’t stop. She kept flying and flying and soon Wonderland wasn’t in sight anymore but even then she didn’t stop.

She noticed as the stationeries and furniture disappeared one after another until soon, she was the only one left. She had long since lost her voice and gave up screaming. She flew into the darkness and after a few minutes of silence, bumped into something hard.

“Ow!” She exclaimed as she massaged the top of head. She looked up and squinted in a failed attempt to make out what she had bumped into. Using her hands, she gently pushed against whatever was above her and to her surprise, it moved and a huge wave of light entered her eyes.

She closed her eyes on instinct and opened them slowly to get used to the brightness. When she climbed out of the hole she was greeted by more light. “This doesn’t look like Wonderland…” she whispered as she looked around her new surroundings. Feeling curious, she decided to take a stroll but she got lost soon after.

“Flowers!” she exclaimed happy to see something familiar. “Hello!” she greeted them but to her dismay, they didn’t answer her. ‘Maybe they didn’t hear me.’ “HELLO!” she yelled a little louder. “Yes, what may I do for you miss?” a middle aged woman asked her. “I wasn’t talking to you, I was talking to them.” Sungmin pointed at the roses.

The middle aged woman raised an eyebrow before chasing Sungmin out of her flower shop. Sungmin continued walking although she didn’t quite know where she was going. ‘I should go home now.’ Sungmin thought as she tried to retrace her steps to find the hole from which she had came out from.

But finding the hole turned out to be a harder task than she had imagined seeing as every street looked exactly like the previous one. She was lost in thought when she heard a loud horn to her right. She turned in time to see two bright orbs of light coming at her direction. ‘Am I going to die?’

Just as the lights were about to totally engulf her, they disappeared. Instead, it was replaced by a strange looking object that she had never seen before. She continued to marvel at the object when her thoughts were disrupted by a person walking out of the object. Her attention immediately went from the object to the person for she was pretty certain she had never seen clothes like that.

“Miss please get off the road. You are causing a traffic jam.” Sungmin looked behind her and saw that there was no one there. She then pointed a finger at herself and asked, “Me?”

The man tapped his foot impatiently. “Not you, the wall.” He replied sarcastically. “Oh… Why would you want to talk to the wall?” Sungmin asked. She found the people of this world weird. The man face palmed. “You know what, I change my mind, get in the car.” “What’s a car?”

The man pointed at the object beside him and Sungmin brightened up. “I can really go in there?” she peeked in through the glass and saw a comfortable looking seat. She excitedly hopped in and the seat was incredibly comfy, just as she had expected. She heard the man apologise before entering the object she now recognizes as a car. “Put on your seatbelt.”

“What’s that?” The man sighed before leaning over to put on the seatbelt for her. The man started the engine and started driving. Sungmin observed the funny thing he was turning for few minutes before losing interest and looking out of the window.

She saw neon signs, lots and lots of neon signs. She saw people; they were all preoccupied with their own activities. “Hello.” She waved at the passing people but of course none of them were able to see her. She saw lots of strange objects and peculiar looking houses.

Soon she arrived in front of a building that had a large emblem in front of it. “Get off the car.” The man ordered. She tried to get out but she was bound to the seat by the seatbelt. She struggled against it and tried to slip out of it until the man came and unbuckled it. She gasped in amazement before getting off.

“Follow me.” Since Sungmin had nothing else to do and nowhere else to go, she followed him. He lead her through many doors until they finally arrived in a small room with only one table and a few chairs in the center and not much space.

Sungmin was told to sit on a chair which she did not too willingly for the seat was made of wood and was not so comfortable. A woman came in soon after and set a bunch of files and papers onto the table before taking a seat opposite of Sungmin.

“What’s your name?”

“Diane Elizabeth Mary Susan Lee Sungmin. But most people call me Sungmin.”

“How old are you?”

“24.”

“Where do you live?”

“Paperberry Mountain. It’s South of Candy Cane Hill and East of Blood River.”

The woman opened her mouth a little as if to say something but she didn’t quite know what to say so she just walked out of the room.

Sungmin could hear the woman argue with the man that she bumped into earlier. “Why did you bring her here?” The woman screamed angrily. “She obviously looked like a lost child!” “Lost alright and how do you intend to bring her to Paperberry Mountain?” “How was I supposed to know she’s a psycho? I can’t tell the future!”

“I’m not a psycho. I’m a perfectly normal ten of hearts and I want to go home!” Sungmin yelled and dissolved into a sobbing mess at the word home. “That explains the dress.” The woman remarked before going to the sobbing girl and patting her on the back. “Look you can stay with him until we figure out how to get you home.”

“Why me?” “Because I say so and because Hankyung is coming over with soju tonight.” The man rolled his eyes in understanding before pulling the sobbing Sungmin up by the arm and dragging her towards his car.

Upon seeing the car, Sungmin stopped crying and smiled. She went in and put on her seatbelt properly making her feel very proud of herself. But the car wouldn’t start. “Damn, no more petrol.” The man threw his hands up in the air in frustration.

He told Sungmin to get out of the car and they walked towards the nearest train station. “It’s a giant metal snake!” Sungmin exclaimed, eyes shining as she watches the train approach. “Why do you go into the snake?” she asked when they were going to board. “We just do and it’s not a snake.” The man dragged her into the train.

She practically ‘oo’ed and ‘ah’ed at everything from the advertisements to the grab poles making every other passenger stare at her. The train reached their stop and she reluctantly tore herself away from the window.

The man brought her into his house and she was amazed at the objects littered around his house. “By the way since you’re temporarily living here, my name is Cho Kyuhyun.” He stressed on the word ‘temporary’. “Lee Sungmin.”

The first book Kyuhyun introduced to Sungmin was the dictionary. Every day, Sungmin would diligently study the dictionary and look at pictures from the internet (when she finally figured that out) to better understand what this word looked like.

One day while looking through his library for something to read she came across a book titled ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The title attracted her and so she begun to read the book. To her surprise everything was the same. “Then Alice really did come to Wonderland!”

She asked Kyuhyun about it. “Alice in Wonderland is just a made up story for kids.” He replied. “But Wonderland has the exact same story.” Unfortunately he didn’t hear her.

After many years, Sungmin is no longer a lost stranger that Kyuhyun found. They became friends and Sungmin started to work at the police station where Kyuhyun works at. She also made a few new friends like Heechul, the woman who interviewed her years ago, Hankyung, a senior in martial arts class and apparently Heechul’s boyfriend, Shindong, the owner of her favorite café, Zhoumi, a friend of Kyuhyun’s, Siwon, a person at church who encouraged her to keep praying so she could go home, Eunhyuk, Shindong’s brother, Kangin, her martial arts teacher and Yesung, a fellow policeman.

Sungmin had gotten so used to this world that she has became a part of it. One day her 5 sisters from Wonderland also found their way into this world and Sungmin had an awesome time showing off her knowledge.

One day, a wizard from Wonderland came to their world and turned her and her sisters and Heechul into guys. So the 15 of them decided to start a band. They called it Super Junior and had many pairings and did many performances. They all lived happily ever after.
