Someone blew up the Watcher's Council a few days ago. Most of the Watchers were killed and their records destroyed. Giles has decided to go back to England and rebuild it. He's asked me to go with him and after discussing what to do with the shop, I've agreed. Willow and Tara are going with us, along with Wesley and his wife Fred from Angel's team. That will leave Buffy here alone with Xander and Maddy, and well, Spike. I'm sure they can keep the Hellmouth safe. Well, if anything big comes up, which it always does, we would come back and help. Of course she could always call Angel for back up I suppose, if he's not having his own crisis.
After careful consideration we've decided to have Tristan run the Magic Box while we're gone. Not that he has to do much, I'd of given it to Theresa if she wasn't still in school. But he's an adult who can handle the demanding business of being a shopkeeper and someone's got to keep it open. Giles wasn't fond of the idea at first, but he sees things my way now and he is okay with leaving it in Tristan's hands. I'll be showing him how I run the shop over the next few days before we leave, and of course I'll make sure he can contact me if he has any questions.
Today I'll need to talk with Theresa and let her know that Tristan will be taking over in my absence but that she may need to help him. A lot. Because he may be an adult, but it's Theresa who really knows how to run the shop. I should give her a raise since she will have more responsibilities now before we have to leave. There's also the matter of calling all of my suppliers and letting them know that they will be dealing with Tristan or Theresa now and that I expect the same good service will be offered to them. Hopefully Tristan will be able to overlook the fact that most of them are demons and see that they're also businessmen. I have to call Cristoff and explain to him that our agreement will be honored as well. Perhaps I could persuade him to give Tristan some helpful advice on how to make customers purchase more, too.
It will be strange, leaving Sunnydale after spending all of my recent mortal years here. I have never lived anywhere else, other than before I became a vengeance demon. Plus they use all of those british words over there that I don't understand and I was just starting to understand some of the references they use over here. At least I won't be the only one who doesn't know what they mean, Willow and Tara won't either. Maybe Willow will stop using those culture references once she sees how hard it is to have a conversation with people if you don't know what they're talking about. I will miss having to fight Xander for a cruller and having to ask Buffy to not eat chocolate before touching the merchandise and telling Spike that he has to pay for his burba weed now. But Giles will be with me, at least I won't have to miss him.
I wonder if they will have umbrella drinks over there?
