Oh dear, another time sink: have opened the "DIMM DOOR ASSY" on my Eee PC, and might finally get around to upgrading to a whopping 2GB RAM. In the meantime, wasting time trying to understand what Windows Task Manager is trying to tell me.

Presentation accomplished, and went adequately, thanks to the first rule: practice, practice, practice.

Not so happy with the Ubuntu 12.x desktop now though.

I wish I'd tried this sooner. Selecting "ClearType" under "Folgende Methode zum Kantenglätten von Bildshirmschriften verwenden" gives me nice ani-aliasing in Windows XP.

(Except on this Courier-like fixed width font, oh well.)

I'm about to go out and buy a webcam as T.'s Christmas present. It doesn't need IR LEDs, mechanical tracking, or eight megapixels. But I'm thinking that auto-focus might be a feature worth spending a few bucks extra on, rather than constantly trying to find a spare hand to adjust a screw-type manual focus ( Read more... )

Got a phone call last night from a sales agent from Deutsche Telekom last night. She wants to sell me DSL 6000 for EUR 35 per month, including unlimited calls within Germany.
