And Then There Were Two

I just saw that Peter Graves died. Jim Phelps was one of my crushes when I was a kid so this makes me very, very sad. I'm actually a little surprised that he died before his brother, James Arness. Besides being younger, Peter always looked like he was the healthier of the two. Of course neither aged very well ( Read more... )

Wow, I have stumbled into a blast from the past...mine. When I was a kid, I thought Patrick MacNee was about the hottest thing on the planet. And Peter Graves... I lived for MI so I could oggle him. Efem Zimbalist Jr. was on my list too along with Richard Baseheart. And while my friends watched WWW for Robert Conrad, I was more interested in Ross Martin, lol.

In fact, all my crunches were over men in their 40s and 50s. Now I seem to be moving up the age scale 'cause it's 50s and 60s. But I could still snuggle up to MacNee or Zimbalist any day, lol. I saw a rerun of The Nanny that Efrem was in and he's still the same suave guy, grayer but still got it.

Oh my goodness! My first big crush was Richard Basehart (I don't count Rex Harrison because I was 5 when I first crushed on him). My first fandom was Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and I've written quite a few Voyage fics featuring Admiral Nelson.

In the mid 70's I stumbled upon The Avengers and Patrick Macnee and the biggest crush of my life was born. I have a birthday card that he sent to me on my 29th birthday (this was quite a few years ago). It's another one of those most prized possessions.

Along the way though I crushed on Efrem Zimbalist Jr on The FBI and 77 Sunset Strip and of course Peter Graves on MI. The other big crush was Robert Bray, the forest ranger on Lassie. I used to watch WWW and I tried to like Ross Martin but he never did it for me.
