Ok, CSI, you win with this one

I'll state the very obvious. Brass fans have suffered the last two years. We really have. But this episode, along with the last episode. Wow. Just...wow. I never, ever saw that coming.

This one starts off a little slow. Three murders that we eventually find out all track back to the past. Cops had the murders but couldn't bring the case home so the perp got away. Until now. Vartann worked a case, Vega worked a case, Brass worked a case, the sheriff worked a case. And none of them were sad the victim finally got what was coming to them. As Brass tells DB, all cops carry a hit list in their head but they never act on it. However, a dying cop might not hold on to that code. But he's dying and can't carry out the crime so he has someone else do it for him.

Brass and DB have a conversation about one of the victims. She died from an overdose of old PCP. Turns out it was the same PCP that killed her daughter. The son took the fall for it but Brass knew it was the mother so when she turned up dead, he had no sympathy for her. DB on the other hand doesn't feel quite the same way. Brass stands up and makes it clear he's done talking about and there's a very awkward silence.

Not long after that we find out that Brass and dying cop, Stan Richardson, were drinking buddies. Actually, so was Vartann and the sheriff and probably Vega. DB confronts Jim about this and Jim gets very defensive. Cops stick up for cops, even if it's a little misguided. Jim does not believe DB and again, makes it clear he's done talking about it.

At one point I was fairly convinced the person carrying out the crimes was Dexter Morgan. Nope.

The CSIs know someone was carrying out Richardson's list but they don't know who. The sheriff comes to DB with what she believes is the next victim. They somehow figure out where he is (I missed this part) and cops are on the way. We get to see Brass' bitchin' Charger, which is very awesome. Cops surround a lake where a man is trying to drown another man. Brass and Nick get out of the car and are shocked to find out the man is...Sam Vega. Vega? The same guy who had to reign Jim in when he really wanted to beat the crap out of Ellie's boyfriend? Vega? Squeaky clean Vega? What the hell does this stupid show have against cops? Obviously this is their payback for thinking it's completely unrealistic.

Jim very calmly tells Vega to let the guy go and get out of the water. He does and as he walks out of the water, he starts shooting at the cops. Suicide by cop. Brass just stands there running his hand over his head while Nick goes to Vega's aid and DB goes to the other guy (who was suspected of killing his wife by Vega). Vega is gone and Nick is visibly somewhere between angry and upset. There is an officer down and there cops everywhere so he tells DB to let the rescue guys handle it (the polite way to say back off). Brass in the meantime is stunned. He calls in the officer down and the a few minutes later, he calls rescue. But he's just stunned.

Fast forward to the end and we have Brass in his office, looking at a picture of cops that Richardson had. I hope they aren't implying that Brass is one of them because I'm not sure how that would be possible. DB shows up at the door and he and Brass have a brief conversation about Vega. Apparently, he killed an informant and Richardson had the knife and was using it to blackmail Vega into doing his dirty work. DB starts to leave then turns back and says' "Look, I know we'll never have a summerhouse together". He then tells Brass that he respects him. They will butt heads the way Brass and Grissom and I like that. It's what I've missed about the Brass and Grissom dynamic. Brass says that the funerals for Vega and Richardson are on the same day so he was thinking he'd just get on his motorcycle and ride. Motorcycle?! Brass has a motorcycle! Us Brass fans always knew he was a motorcycle kind of guy.

Btw, I know this is all over the place but it's late, I'm doing this off the top of my head and no one reads it anyway.
