Chapter One

“So, did you manage to find it?” Heechul asked anxiously the moment Kangin opened the office door. After all, it had been three days since the thief accident happened in his office and he wants to know the exact location of the key. Yet, judging from the expression Kangin had on his face, he knew it was anything but good news.

“Hyung, I am sorry but I still could not find the key…” Kangin apologized while Heechul clenched his fist.

“It had been three days and yet you still could not find the key? Are you even trying hard enough?” Heechul asked in a tight voice as he tried to control his emotions.

“Is there any other alternatives we could use hyung? Finding the key is almost like finding a needle in a haystack...” Kangin stated.

“If I could simply get a replacement key do you think I would even order you to find the key? Have it ever occur to you what will happen if the key fall into the wrong hands or is your brain too stupid to realize it?” Heechul said in a cold tone while Kangin shifted in his position uncomfortably. Getting reprimanded by the leader of Durendal was never a good thing.

“I am giving you another week Kangin. If you failed to return the key back into my hands by the end of the week, I am going to pass this task to someone else. And if that were to happen, you better hope I won’t get you replaced for your incompetency. If the second in command in Durendal could not find a key, there is no point in you staying in that seat of yours.” Heechul continued as he glanced towards the door, indicating that his meeting with the younger one was over. Kangin could only nod his head and exited from the office quickly.

--

“Seriously, this must be the fifth case this week…” Sungmin thought to himself as he approached the police rope off where he noticed two policemen stood behind the rope off, trying their best to control the passer bys who were very interested and curious by the rope off. One of the policeman stopped Sungmin from getting any closer to the rope off until Sungmin showed his pass while the policeman began to lead him to the body as his partner continued to stand on duty at the rope off.

“What do we have here?” Sungmin asked.

“Well, we were on patrol nearby when we heard through the radio about a dead body found by the witness. We came shortly after and roped off the area.” The policeman stated as he showed Sungmin the body.

Sungmin grimaced slightly upon looking at the body, which already had shown symptoms of decomposing. Whoever had done the kill, they must be professionals if they managed to hide the body so well.

Taking a deep breath, Sungmin got to work as he wore a mask and a pair of gloves and kneeled down beside the body, inspecting the body as well as taking mental notes that would helped in his autopsy report on the victim back at his office later.

He was so engrossed in his work that he did not realized that the Forensic Scene Investigators (FSI), had reached the crime scene until the leader of the team, Yesung, kneeled down beside him and exchange a brief nod with Sungmin before beginning to start gathering evidence. Five minutes later, police officers from the division of the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) had arrived as well and began to interview nearby passer bys as well as the person who report to the authorities while the head of the Division, Detective Choi Siwon, came up to both Sungmin and Yesung.

“So, what do we have here?” Siwon asked.

“Well, my preliminary analysis is that the victim died due to the head shot and judging from the wound, seems like it was a close distance shot. And based on the level of decomposing, the body must be here for about three days already.” Sungmin stated.

“A close distance headshot?” Siwon asked while Sungmin nodded.

“That is my best bet. Well, there will only be more details after I done an autopsy report on the victim. Probably you can pick the report up later or by tomorrow. I will be sending the body back to my office now.” Sungmin answered as he began to pack his belongings while the rest of his medical team arrived, preparing to load the body on their van to return back to the office.

“What have you found Yesung?” Siwon asked while Yesung showed the plastic bag with a wallet, an Iphone and some other belongings in it.

“Looks like whatever reason this guy was dead, it had nothing to do with money. His personal belongings were all intact. In addition, my boys did not manage to find any clean sets of fingerprints and no murder weapon as well.” Yesung commented while Siwon nodded his head in understanding.

“And I suspect the body had been moved as well, judging from how well the body was hidden.” Yesung continued.

“So there should be another crime scene…” Siwon said as Yesung nodded.

“Hyung…” A voice said as Siwon turned his head to notice Cheon Dung standing there.

“Yes Cheon Dung?” Siwon asked.

“I just interviewed the person who called the authorities. Apparently the stench was too strong thus he decided to investigate and when he found the body he called the authorities immediately.” Cheon Dung explained while Siwon tried to gather his thoughts.

“This case might not be as easy as I thought after all…” Siwon muttered as he stood in silence as he watched the body being loaded onto the medical examiner’s van.

--

Kangin stood at the door, stumped at the state of the apartment. After days of searching, Kangin had managed to find the apartment that used to belong to Uncle Roger, the man who had been shot by Heechul few days back.

He had been hoping to find the missing key at the apartment but he certainly did not expect that the apartment had been ransacked by anyone else. As Kangin entered the apartment, he began to take in the images of the overturned drawers, messy table, cabinets that were emptied while the contents were all over the floor.

“Guess he really owed a lot of money…” Kangin thought to himself as he looked around, knowing that his task of finding the key had turned a whole lot more difficult.

As Kangin stood there, trying to figure out what will be his next action, his phone began to vibrate.

“What is it Donghae?” Kangin said the moment he picked up the phone.

“Hyung, I heard that the police had found the body. Should I inform Heechul about it?” Donghae said on the phone.

“Go ahead. Heechul needs to know about it sooner or later. Oh and by the way Donghae…” Kangin replied

“Hyung what is it?” Donghae asked.

“I want you to help me find out the exact triad who loan their money to Uncle Roger. I want their names as soon as possible.” Kangin ordered.

--

“There he is, get him!” A voice shouted as Hankyung whipped his head around to notice a bunch of thugs on the other end of the alley, running towards him.

“What the hell.” Hankyung thought to himself as he knew he was in trouble. Without a second glance, he sped off.

Hankyung knew he had made a bad decision. After all, he should have remained hidden in the shadows until the heat was taken off him. Yet, the desperate need of cash had caused him to appear on the streets in order to receive the cash he had earned from his latest hit, giving the thugs an opportunity to find him.

Now, he was facing the result of his actions with the thugs chasing after him, thugs who wanted him very dead. After all, his latest job was to assassinate the fiancée of Ryu Hasuba, leader of the Hasuba clan. Hankyung had succeeded in his task, but his act had immediately made Ryu Hasuba extremely upset and angry, and thus Hankyung had made to the top of Ryu’s personal hit list.

Hankyung gave his all in trying to keep the distance between himself and the thugs as large as possible. However, before Hankyung knew it, he found himself in a dead end with nowhere else to run. Within the next few seconds, the thugs managed to catch up.

“Well well, looks like luck has run out on you! Don’t worry; we will make this extremely painless for you.” The voice said cruelly as he and his men began to slowly approach Hankyung, with their weapons drawn.

“A total of eight guys, no guns, should be able to tackle them all. But, the area of maneuver isn’t quite large here, not quite possible to fight well in this restricted space…” Hankyung thought to himself as he tried to come up with an escape plan.

“What the f’ing hell do you think you guys are doing?” Another voice said suddenly just when they were about to launch their attack on Hankyung. As Ryu’s thugs turned their heads, they noticed another group of men were blocking the entrance to the alleyway.

“What a surprise! Isn’t this Ryu’s lackey, Kwon Oh?” The leader of the men standing at the entrance said as Kwon Oh, the leader of Ryu’s thugs frowned.

“Eunhyuk from Durendal… What do you want?” Kwon Oh said coldly as the man that was named as Eunhyuk laughed and walked towards Kwon Oh with a relaxed expression. He cast a glance at Hankyung for a few seconds before returning his gaze back at Kwon Oh. It was as though Eunhyuk was telling Hankyung not to do anything but to stand there and watch how things play out.

“Well, I heard noises across the street just now and I decided to investigate. I must say I am just in time. Any second later I might had to be here to clear a dead body.” Eunhyuk replied.

“What do you want Eunhyuk. We have no time to play games with you. Get lost.” Kwon Oh answered through gritted teeth.

“Just in case you don’t realize it, let me enlighten you. You and your goons had chased this guy so far that you guys are in the Durendal’s territory right now, which is MY territory. So I suggest you better watch that mouth of yours.” Eunhyuk said as there was a change in expression on Kwon Oh’s face.

“This guy killed Ryu’s fiancée and Ryu had placed a killing order on this guy’s head. You don’t want to piss Ryu anymore.” Kwon Oh stated while Eunhyuk gave a light laugh before turning serious.

“Well, I don’t really give a shit about what happened to the Hasuba’s Clan. As far as I am concern, this is Durendal’s ground so whatever you killing want to do, do it at your own backyard. Do not taint my ground.” Eunhyuk replied.

“Fine, we will bring this guy back to our own territory. Does this satisfy you?” Kwon Oh answered.

It was when Eunhyuk was about to let Kwon Oh took Hankyung away when another guy entered the scene.

“Hold it.” The guy said as Eunhyuk and Kwon Oh looked at the guy confusingly.

“Hae? What are you doing here?” Eunhyuk asked the guy, who turned out to be another member of Durendal.

“Now what? I am bringing this guy back to our ground so what the hell is the problem now?” Kwon Oh shouted, clearly pissed with the turnout of events. Donghae, however, ignored the guy but looked at Hankyung instead.

“Is your name Hankyung?” Donghae asked while Hankyung felt shocked. After all, a member of the triad knew his name. He was really in a deep mess.

“Yes.” Hankyung answered.

“Well, we are bringing that guy with us.” Donghae announced while Kwon Oh stared hard at the man.

“What the f’ing hell did you just say?” Kwon Oh said while Donghae shrugged.

“I said we are taking that guy. Any problems?” Donghae answered.

“You have no idea who you are messing around with. You think I will let you take this guy away from us? What makes you think I won’t kill this guy right now?” Kwon Oh said through gritted teeth.

“You won’t do it because you are not stupid enough to do it when you are clearly outnumbered. And I do know what I am doing. Believe it or not, as much as I do not want to face Ryu Hasuba’s wrath, Kangin’s hyung wrath are ten times worse. My order is to bring Hankyung to Kangin alive and I am not going to let you mess with that. Now be smart and let him go.” Donghae said simply.

“What if I don’t?” Kwon Oh asked, not backing down.

“Then, you are not going back to your territory alive. So are your goons.” Eunhyuk answered, challenging to Kwon Oh.

“I will swear that the two of you will regret this.” Kwon Oh said after a while as he and his man backed themselves against a wall, leaving a space for Hankyung to walk towards the Durendal men.

“Oh I am sure I will. For not killing you now that is. Let’s go.” Donghae stated as they began to leave, with Hankyung following them.

I know I had introduced quite a number of characters in this chapter so I hoped the story did not confuse anyone much. Enjoy the chapter and hope there will be some comments as well. :D
