However, no one know the pain Heechul had went through to get to where he was, the things he had to sacrifice...

Prologue

“Please… I will do whatever you say, just don’t kill me!” A voice begged as he backed away slowly into the dark alley as footsteps began to creep closer.  He couldn’t exactly make out who was out there, but as far as he was concern, he knew the person wasn’t friendly.

“Well, that is certainly hard to say right now, don’t you think? If you precious your life so much, you knew better than to steal from me.” Another voice replied in a cold tone as he stood under the streetlamp nearby, revealing his face.

“Heechul? Look, I had no choice! You have to believe me! I need the money to repay the debts I owed the loan sharks!” The voice said in a more urgent tone as Heechul walked towards the man slowly, who had slumbered in a corner as his legs had already turned given up on him.

“Now, be good and tell me where the items are. Perhaps then I will be gracious enough to spare this pathetic life of yours.” Heechul said in a business like tone as he kneeled in front of the man, who had begun to sob.

“I already sold all the items to repay my debt… The items are gone…” The man said in a whimper as Heechul frowned, clearly displease with the answer.

“What about the key?” Heechul continued in gritted teeth, his patience clearly running out.

“The key? I threw the key away… I didn’t know!” The man said, terrified.

“If that is the case, then today shall be your death day.” Heechul said as he stood up while the man widened his eyes in horror when he noticed four more men entered the alley.

“Please Heechul! I really have no choice! Don’t do this me!” The man begged repeatedly while Heechul smirked as he beckoned one of his subordinates to hand him a pistol.

“Any last words?” Heechul asked while the man froze. He knew he had to come up with something good real soon. If not, he will be good as dead.

“Heechul, please… On the account that I had been friends with your father for years…” The man said as Heechul narrowed his eyes. Clearly whatever the man had said wasn’t what Heechul wanted to hear.

“No one steals from me, even if you are a friend of my father’s. Goodbye.” Heechul said as he raised his right hand and pulled the trigger.  The gun shot rang so loudly in the quiet alley that it caused stray cats meowed hysterically and sprang off.

Heechul returned the gun back to his subordinate, who took the gun and returned to his holster.

“Clear up the mess boys. And do a good one. Kangin, follow me.” Heechul ordered as the rest of the men began to get to work, getting rid of the dead body as Kangin followed Heechul to the car that was parked not far from the alley.

“Yes hyung?” Kangin said while Heechul looked at the younger one.

“No matter what the cost, no matter what methods you use, I want that key back, you get me?” Heechul ordered.

“But hyung, if what he said was the truth, how on earth am I supposed to find the key that had already been thrown away? Besides, what key is that?” Kangin asked carefully. He knew better than to further anger Heechul, who was already rather unhappy at that moment.

“That key opens a safe in my office. Does this answer satisfy you or must I give you further instructions Kangin?” Heechul said coldly while Kangin nodded his head as he excused himself to do the task instructed, leaving Heechul with the three other men, who returned after deposing the body.

Kim Heechul, leader of the most notorious triad in the city of Miami, Durendal. Despite taking over the triad at a young age of twenty seven, Heechul had been deemed as the most powerful one amongst all the past leaders, including his own father.

Yet, no one knew the fact that Heechul becoming the triad leader was a forced act. Heechul had never for once been interested in becoming the head of the triad. Yet, due to his father persistence and the fact that Heechul was the sole heir, Heechul realized he had no choice but to sacrifice the one thing he treasured the most: the love of his life.

Well, just in case the story seems awfully familiar to some, it is actually a remake version of one of my previous incomplete fanfic Past. After much considerations, I decided to change the flow of the story, leaving the main characters, some supporting characters as well as the triad name the same.

Hope the prologue had readers to wait for the rest of the chapters. :D And feel free to leave a comment!
