Home from California. I was reminded why I could never possibly live there. Too crowded. Too materialistic. Too sunny (a burned scalp is no fun). Too hot.
Disneyland invariably is a display of the worst that America has to offer. I will be happy if I never again set foot in that awful place. Though I did really enjoy Space Mountain. I could ride that thing all day long.
I visited San Francisco for a day. It was actually tolerable. A man jumped out from behind a bush and scared me. I ate ice cream at Ghirardelli square. I went to see "Beach Blanket Babylon" which was a fabulously costumed comedy show. I attended a pirate festival in Vallejo with Rita, my former nanny. Most of the other attendees were renaissance fair devotees who took the whole costume and roleplaying thing very seriously. There was an abundance of pale fat women who wore tight corsets which lifted their white, blue-veined breasts to quivering heights. They strode about proudly, displaying the wealth of jiggling breasticle in a manner that screamed "Hah! Does your skinny little girlfriend have THIS under her shirt? I could feed a small country with my bounty!" And indeed they could, if they so chose.
I bought nothing at Disneyland. But I did buy a UV toothbrush sanitizer at an Eddie Bauer store in Portland, before I got on the train back to Seattle. I am terribly excited about it.
I dropped my phone while in disneyland and now the front display doesn't work at all. So when I get calls I have no idea who it is. If you call me and I don't immediately know who you are, please don't be offended. I am due for a phone upgrade in August so I'll have to live with this one for another month and a half.
I have also enjoyed facial masques. You know, the mud stuff you put on your face and let dry, then wash off. I got some with Lily in california and I loved it. I don't really see a difference in my skin but the whole ritual of rubbing it in, feeling it crack and tighten around my skin as it dries, washing it away... I find it very relaxing. So I've been giving myself a facial every night. But I also had to buy a face moisturizer because the masque can dry out my skin. I hope that putting all this stuff on my face doesn't mess up my skin. Usually the more crap I use on my face, the more zits I get. If I leave it alone and only wash it while in the shower, my skin is completely clear. I suppose I can add that to my short list of things I don't mind about my body. My skin. My breasts. My ankles. The bottom of my left foot. My ulnar styloid process (bump on the back of wrist). I can't think of any others.
