Well, this entry anyway. It's been ages since I've written anything about what is going on with me, rather than political stuff.
Living down on the Coast has been going fairly well. Just like anywhere, it has it's ups and downs. Moving back home has been an odd experience. I moved out when I was 18, and moving back home 6 years later seems like a big step backwards.
I liked being independant, but the amount of money I am saving is certainly worth it. When I'm overseas, I know I will be glad I made the move. I've also been able to get a few things done around the house for my Mum, rather than her having to pay someone to do them, which is great.
The new job is going fantastically as well. A complete paradigm shift from the Perm, with an almost flat management structure (pretty good), very little planning or strategy (not so good), and a lot of opportunity to drive the company forward (good, as it makes me look really good).
I'm definately missing pretty much everyone up in Newcastle. It would be great to catch up with people, but it feels like I've pretty much fallen out of the social cirlce I was in before, so I don't hear about events, let alone get a chance to attend them. Plus Winter is usually the slow down season in terms of parties, I guess.
The band is going pretty well, although driving up and back every week for practice is starting to wear thin. But there is some good news on the band front - Monkey has joined the band on vocals!
Doc, our old singer had gotten sick of the band not really getting anywhere (when you play death metal, you can't really expect to achieve instant, or pretty much any stardom), and left. I asked Monkey if he wanted to give it a go, and he's fit in really well. He's given the band a different dynamic (his voal style is very different to Doc's), which I think works a lot better.
We've got a gig coming up in Newcastle on the 11th August (next Saturday) at The Lucky Country. It would be great if any of you could make it. Come welcome Monkey to the band, and give us a chance to catch up. We go on at Midnight, but will be there from about 8. We also have a gig on the Friday night, in Sydney, if that suits any of you more. Leave a comment, and I'll give you more details of that one.
Hoep to catch y'all around.
