Insane shipping rates and dubious storage space in my future lodgings have forced me to get picky with my belongings. I'm limiting myself to one week's worth of dress shirts, one week's worth of non-work clothes, and as little of everything else as I can stand to carry. The rest will be carted off to Goodwill or Half-Price Books, or sealed into more boxes to be hidden away in a series of separate garages. Some boxes will be shipped at a later date, maybe, but some will most likely live forever in freeloader storage until I own a place large enough to house all my own crap. I feel like I'm playing the desert island game with every class of thing I own.

Because Japan IS a desert island, man! Isolated from the rest of the world by insular, xenophobic culture and...and excessive snack product packaging! All those layers of plastic seal IN the freshness, but they seal OUT the joy of a puppy's love!

Aw, hell. I hope I get better at this once I start work.
