I haven't gotten anywhere close to doing all the crap I was supposed to do this week but I have managed to randomly interesting stuff.
Wednesday I made a risotto with asparagus and shrimp. Risotto is supposed to be insanely difficult but I found it was mostly laborious, not tricky. Unlike most of the things which Alice Waters tries to make sound easy, it actually isn't that bad.
Today I met a Japanese conversation partner, which is like number four or five for me at this point. It seemed to go well but who knows when or if I'll see her again. At least the Bay Area is full of Japanese folks wanting to practice English, so I could theoretically just hit up a different person once or twice a week until I leave. Maybe I should be filming this stuff secretly, it's starting to feel like pretty good indie-film-about-failure material.
Tomorrow I get to see if I can do around 6,000 words in a day (plus other assorted work) without my head exploding. This will not be as exciting but will produce money, so I guess I can't complain.
