5 New-ish Spuffy Writers (and their works)

Jan 06, 2016 13:29

It’s a new golden age for fans of good Spike/Buffy fic, much of it funny. There is a whole fresh crop of excellent writers dipping into the Buffyverse for the first time. Here are five that have found new things to say - in sparkling prose - about the pairing. In alphabetical order:

Five outstanding in their field... )

There are few things I like better than the sight of a long fic and a download button ;) Thanks for the pointers!

I'm with you there! I know it probably means less feedback for the authors, but it's a great way to read.

I'm sure that's true, one does have to make a special effort to go back and kudos or leave a comment. I suspect that it's more a matter of habit -- most people who leave feedback always make a point of doing it and others don't consider it part of the reading experience. If I enjoy a fic I also like reading the comments left -- it's kind of like seeing a movie in a theater, that group experience.

But these days I'd probably never read a lot of authors otherwise. Just recently I came across a list of works for a big bang (in another fandom) and some of the works had been posted only on LJ. I didn't even bother to bookmark them because I knew I'd never get around to reading them here. I've still got a folder full of links with good intentions that will probably linger forever :/

*sigh* I may have to discard a decade long rule and join EF. I'm only familiar with three of these new authors and I've also been told there is comic-based fic being written over there. I miss the days when everybody was on LJ! LOL

For Spuffy, it really is the place to be these days. All credit goes to the wonderful mod over there, Susan (aka sjp9920). Some other writers to check out: zabjade, reenasas, mak324, tempestt, myrabeth. Some of the best comic-based stories are by a Tumblr author whose handle is soulfulspikethekiller, but who goes by Dactylgirl on EF, and TerrusDacktellus on AO3.

Heh. That ought to keep you busy for awhile...

Oh, that's me! Thanks for reccing me! I've just joined LJ, (well I've been on it ages, but I've just started using it for real) because I had the same feeling from the opposite direction, lol, that I'm missing out on a lot of fandom fun on LJ.

Welcome! I'm so glad to see you here. Stop by my page for links to all sorts of good places to hang out on LJ.

The splintering of fandom by platform is just like what's happening for me in RL: should I call someone? Home or mobile? Text? Email? Facebook message? Argh! Covering all the bases is just part of life these days...

Thanks! It's sort of a cheat, because there are probably 100 stories hidden behind that deceptive list of 5 (half of them by sigyn) but the quality is just so good with these that it's worth the investment of time, IMHO.

I've read some works by the_moonmoth, but I need to add the rest of these writers to my list. Thanks!

You might want to start with Sigyn, since the angst quotient is higher than with some of the others.

I hope you like 'em all, though!

Damn you for stealing my final list! I knew I should have put off real life instead of putting off finishing my own post up. :D

I regret nothing! Well, okay, I do regret a couple of things, but not this list. I know none of these are new to you, but they are new to our fandom and only 2 have been posting on LJ. I'm all about spreading the joy!
