Bleh
Give Kids The World - We did end up volunteering last night, but not in the parade. The rain continued all night and into today, so that just wasn't happening. I called them and they said to come in and if the weather didn't clear up they'd find us something else to do. So we picked up Christine and Danielle and headed over. Sat around eating pizza for an hour and then spent 20 minutes running around in the rain taking down Christmas decorations. Not the most fun and exciting evening ever.
Work - I'm still feeling pretty overwhelmed, but I'm understanding a little more each day. There's a light WAY at the end of the tunnel.
The good news - on a whim, I contacted the vault supervisor and the director over that area (Ken, who I used to help out in my previous job although I didn't technically work for him, but now he's my boss' boss' boss) and asked if I could pick up hours there to help make my full week. They said okay, so yay for the full paychecks I should start getting again soon.
The bad news - For one thing, the only day they'll let me work in the vault is Sunday, so there goes one of my days off. It would be so much better if I could just walk over there after work a couple of days a week, but that's the only day they'll need me. The other shit-tastic thing is that we are going down to 32 hours in AR starting next week. Even worse? We aren't getting an extra day off. Because they want full coverage Monday - Friday, I have to work 4 6-hour shifts and one 8 hour shift (month end close, busy day). So the bottom line is, I now work 6 days a week, but my checks aren't going to get any bigger. My 40 hours are just being spread out over all those days. SIGH. This recession is really starting to piss me off.
Weekend Plans - Tonight I'm meeting several people at Olive Garden for Christine's birthday dinner. Casey was supposed to come along, but got invited to a last minute sleepover. I'm on my own until tomorrow. Not that I mind. Dinner will be cheaper, and I always love having the house to myself.
Tomorrow I plan to sleep in, play on the internet and watch TV. I don't want to do anything else. I really really need a recharge day after this stressful week. My brain is in overdrive.
Sunday I'm working in the vault from 8:30-5 and then going to a Superbowl party. Not sure which one, we've been invited to 3. It's really between 2 though, my cousin's or my friend Melanie's (the other was my friend Mike, and we probably wouldn't know anyone but him, plus no kids for Casey to hang with). I don't care all that much which one... I guess it comes down to who I'd rather hang out with, family or friends. I honestly kind of enjoy both equally, so I'm letting Casey choose. She has friends at both parties, so either way she'll be happy. She's still thinking it over. I suppose we could go to both, but I think it will be hard to get her to leave once we're there and she's having fun.
Casey is also supposed to altar serve at church on Sunday morning, but obviously my parents are just going to have to take her. And she was invited to go to a park with Bri to play soccer or volleyball or something, which is better than sitting at home alone while I'm at work, so that's cool.
So that pretty much leaves zero time for chores, but hey I'm going to be getting home at like 3 every day, so I think I'll just get started on that stuff Monday afternoon.
