So I'm home, and it looks like it's just going to be me and the dog ringing in the New Year together. I'm okay with that. My cousin's party was pretty low key this year because he decided to only invite family, and a lot of people were leaving early. Casey was invited to go home with Dana for the night, so the guilt of tearing her away early was gone, and the idea of going home and getting in my PJs started sounding really good. Now if I didn't have to listen to noisy fireworks all over the neighborhood this would be an even more relaxing evening!
EDIT: problem solved. I am now using Casey's old iPod (which she passed on to me when she got the Touch) to drown out the noise with Chris Daughtry.
Before the party we went to T-Mobile to see about getting Casey a new phone. I had called in advance to see if they were closing early due to the holiday and was told they'd be open until 9. Wrong, it was 6 and we got there at around 5 minutes till. So I'm sure the employees loved us. I told the guy how much money she had to spend (it's the money my dad gave her from his change jar plus some Christmas money, minus money spent on gifts... $175) and asked him what was a nicer phone in that price range. He said there was only one, the
Samsung Gravity. So we got that and a memory card. Almost the second she started messing with it, she started complaining that it was not better than her old phone (
Motorolla V490), but seemed worse in fact. I don't know... I didn't really get a chance to mess with it much. I compared them online and don't see a huge difference, except the new one has a slide out keyboard. Anyway, according to the paperwork the phone can be returned within 14 days, so I guess we're going back this weekend. SIGH. Kid just can't be satisfied with what she has! But she's got no choice, since that phone was the best she could afford and I'm sure as hell not buying her a new one.
On that note, Happy New Year you guys! One more hour left in 2008!
