So I managed to catch the last 30 minutes of Casey's gymnastics class. So far I like her new coach, Andy. So does she, because he apparently lets them try new things, whereas the old one wanted them to perfect what they already knew before moving on. No wonder she didn't seem to be getting anywhere. Not that either way is necessarily bad... I just hope to see her actually doing new things soon. She has a different coach on Wednesday nights. Maybe I'll watch that too, just to see what's what.
Right now she's at the park, helping Christine and Danielle prepare for the association Halloween party. Mainly, they are painting the haunted house sets. I had this grand idea that we'd grab Willow and all walk down there together (it's about 1/2 mile up the road), but it didn't quite work out that way. Casey didn't want to walk that far and preferred to ride her bike. I was okay with that, and said we'd just follow behind on foot, watching to make sure she got there okay. I seriously doubt Willow would have made it all the way there and back anyway, in this heat. So we would maybe walk halfway, watch her ride the rest of the way and then head home. Well, she hasn't ridden her bike in months. So first I had to wipe the dirt and grime off of it. And then the tires were incredibly flat. I have a pump that plugs into my car lighter, so I got that out. And then, try as we might, neither of us could get the cap off one of the tires. It was like melded to the plastic. I finally managed to get it off with a pair of pliers (OMG... so I said I needed pliers and Casey goes in the house to get them for me. She comes back out with a pair of tweezers. ROFL, how on earth is that going to help?), and then the pump wouldn't work. DOH. So I was like forget it, I'm driving you. It was hella hot out anyway. I honestly think Willow would have collapsed in a heap within 3 minutes. By then she'd already run herself ragged from the excitement that we were GOING ON A WALK ZOMG! Plus Casey had taken her around a bit while I was working on the bike. So she and I went for a drive (which she loves even more than walking) to drop Casey off and come home.
So then when I got home, I attempted to replace some burned out lightbulbs, only to have one fall and shatter on the kitchen floor. I hope I managed to get all the tiny pieces up.
Despite my issues, I don't think I'm ever going to take weekends for granted again. I love the fact that I'm not at work right now. So fucking much.
Casey and I have been invited to my parents' house for a turkey dinner tonight. Sounds good... I hate to admit it, but so far all my kid has eaten today is donuts and ice cream. The thing is, I'm lucky if I can get her to eat ANY breakfast, so I settle and let her have donuts to get something in her stomach. And then after gymnastics, she was hot and just wanted ice cream, and I know the feeling so I let her have it. I'm going to make her eat good at grandma's house tonight. Also, my parents just got a Wii Fit, so we get to try it out. Kewl.
P.S. Casey has this new thing where she likes to carry Willow around like a baby. She usually tricks her into jumping up into the computer chair (which isn't hard... she always does this as soon as someone gets out of it so she can see what's up there) and then "punishes" her by picking her up, carrying her around like a baby and then placing her in my lap. I don't get it either. She's a strange child, LOL. Anyway, I took this last night.
P.S.S. Oh hey! Ever heard of the book Blindness? I read it a few months back. There's a movie coming out. I just saw the preview last night. I'm psyched. I am not a fan of the author's writing style, but it was a fascinating story. I kind of want to read the sequel, if I can get past the dude's lack of puncuation and the fact that none of his characters have names.
