Last night Casey and I went to a Girl Scout skating event. It was fun, even though I had issues. The first pair of skates I got was brand new and hurt like hell, so I switched them out for some old ones. One of those had a screw missing. I exchanged it, but the remaining one also had alignment issues, so it kept trying to make my foot veer off to the right. It wasn't too bad though and I was over switching skates out, so I sucked it up. I did okay... just had to take a lot of breaks because I got tired from trying to stay straight, LOL. Maybe I should invest in my own pair and we should go more often. It's good exercise. I do own a pair of roller blades, but I'm not steady on them. I prefer the old fashioned kind with 2 rows of wheels.
Casey kicked major ass in the races. She was in the oldest group and left all the other girls in the dust. Woo hoo!
On the way home we passed Dairy Queen, and I couldn't resist the ice cream that was calling my name. So much for the calories I burned skating, but what's better than ice cream after sweating it out in the rink for 2 hours? Casey, who at home had requested salad for dinner, eaten about 2 bites, declared that it tasted funny and tossed it, suddenly decided she was hungry. So she wanted a chicken tender meal instead of ice cream. I asked if she was sure she needed the whole meal, and she said yeah, she was really hungry. Yeah, she ate 2 chicken tenders (and no fries) and then decided she was full. GR. And then when we got home, she had the nerve to ask for chocolate chips (which I bought as a snack at her request last weekend).
Me: Sure you can have chocolate chips. As soon as you finish your chicken
Casey: But that's really filling and I can't eat it all!
Me: You don't have to eat it all right now. You just can't have anything else until you do.
Casey: Come on! I'm going to throw up if I eat all that chicken (btw, it was 2 strips).
Me: Well then you probably don't need chocolate chips either
Casey: *grumble grumble grumble*
I know, I'm SO unreasonable.
Also on the way home, she was suddenly like "OH CRAP. I have to learn some scales for band by tomorrow!" Of course, she got home from school at 2 and had all afternoon to work on that. But no, she's going to suddenly remember at 9 PM. She had to print it out from the website, and of course my computer wouldn't read it. I must not have the necessary software. So I called my mom and she was able to print it on hers, so I had to go back out to their house and get it. Thank God they live close. Casey was up until like 11 working on that. And then this morning after my shower, I came downstairs to find her frantically doing social studies homework she forgot about. So we're off to a great start.
Speaking of band. she got 2nd chair. Of course, she tied with 3 other girls for it, but still. Cool. Hopefully I won't kill her before the first concert.
