I was having some trouble collecting my thoughts about the books I just read, but I went back and looked at some comments
celisnebula made about them and it finally got my brain working. So, my not so deep feelings about Twilight.
The books were interesting, but I wouldn't put them in the same league as Harry Potter. Not even close. I was definitely interested in how things were going to turn out, and I'm looking forward to the next book. They have been getting progressively better, so here's to hoping Breaking Dawn will be really good. I'm definitely more pulled in when there is some action going on, so I'm hoping for more of that in this next one, and less of the tedious conversations and cyclical thought patterns.
I'm SO over Edward and his constantly holding Bella's face in his hands and wrapping his arms around her. She's not being very original in describing their physical relationship, so it's just the same description over and over. I wouldn't be surprised if she had macros for that. Their conversations and Bella's thought patterns were overdone and tedious ("I love you more than you love me" "No you don't" "yes I do. You're just going to leave me" "No I'm not" "Yes you are" BLA BLA BLA.) I don't understand Bella. Most of the decisions she makes are just really foreign to me... I can't relate to her at all.
I do like Jacob a lot... there's so much more depth to him and the other wolves. Yeah he can be a total dick and piss me off, but that makes him more interesting, and... well, human to me. I think I'd enjoy a book or series from his point of view, because I find the werewolves much more interesting than the vampires. Casey is terrified the next book will do just that, and she doesn't want that. She's not a big Jacob fan.
Edward kind of bores me, but I do like his family. Carlisle is intriguing, and I really like Alice too. I'd like to see her go more indepth with all of the Cullens.
The books kind of frustrated the feminist in me too. It just seems like Edward is way too controlling over Bella, and that she is too quick to want to give everything up just for him. Not the best message for the preteen girls who are obsessed with the story.
Still, I can't help but like them. Not love, but like. I'm intrigued, and on a scale of 1-10 I'll give them... a 6 1/2. Maybe a 7 if you catch me in the right mood, LOL
