Happy Mom's Day

May 09, 2005 14:09

I hope you had a good Mother's Day, Rere (and any other moms who may be reading this). I had a nice weekend, and Mother's Day wasn't too bad. Casey gave me a necklace (to tell you the truth, I don't like it much, but I'm wearing it anyway, of course), and Willow gave me a box of Scooby Snacks. LOL... they are just like teddy grahams, but they are shaped like dog biscuits. They're yummy! Then in church, Casey's choir sang a nice song for all the moms. We all had to stand up while they sang for us. It got me all teary eyed and sniffly. The family went out to dinner at Piccadilly's. I don't care for the place, but since I wasn't paying, I did not get a say in the matter. It was funny though, because when my mom told me where we were going, I was like GREAT, and she told me my brother was whining about it too, but that was just too bad. Then at the restaurant, my Aunt said my cousin Robert (her son) decided not to go when he found out where it was going to be. LOL... So everyone from my generation whined about it and the old folks were all for it! Anyway, we still had fun because my brother had me and Casey laughing so hard we were crying. He does that to us. For instance, he was using a tooth pick, and Casey said "What are you doing???", and he said "I'm picking food out of my teeth. Want some? Here, I'll give it to you when I get it out." We were cracking up.

Casey and I went to EPCOT with Josh Saturday. Actually, he only stayed for an hour or two, but Casey and I were there until like 10 PM. We rode a new ride at EPCOT called Soarin', which is awesome. It's a simulator that makes it seem like you are parasailing over California. It's like Back To The Future, because it's in front of a huge screen and there are a bunch of vehicles in front of it. Your legs dangle, and it does actually lift up, and then with the screen, it looks like you are soaring over the water, through the forests, etc. They even blow wind at your face so it feels more real, and Josh told me later there were smells, but I hadn't noticed. Still, it was very cool.

Then he took us to something else I'd never seen called Turtle Talk. It's a show with the sea turtle from Nemo (the one that talks like a surfer), and he's a cartoon, of course, but it looks like he's in a tank. Actually, he said we were in the "people tank". LOL. Anyway, it was really cool and I don't know how they did it, but he talked to us. He could actually see us, and when he talked, his mouth moved with his words... So how they got a cartoon to do that, I don't know. He actually talked to me! He asked who liked to go swimming, and we raised our hands, so he goes "There is a dudette in the 3rd row in a red shell", and I looked at Josh like CRAP, that's me. So the guy comes over with the mic, and Crush was asking me my name and if I liked to swim slow or fast, etc. Then he asked if I wanted to see how fast he could swim, and I said "Pshaw!" and he goes "Righteous! Diggin' the turtle talk." LOL... So then he swam fast and ran right into the tank. He was answering questions from the kids and stuff, but Casey didn't know what to ask, so she didn't raise her hand. Anyway, it was pretty funny, and Dori even stopped by at one point.

Then Josh left, but Casey and I hung out at EPCOT for a while, then went to Magic Kingdom for Space and Thunder Mountain and the Rockets, and we didn't get home until 10:30. It was a pretty nice day. Speaking of coasters, Casey went on Dueling Dragons for the first time last week. She loved it. She's so excited that she's big enough for that stuff now. I'm going to take her to Busch Gardens soon so she can try those rides.

Speaking of Casey, I grounded her for 2 days for that incident with Danielle. It was 2 days because we had something going on Thursday and by the time we got home, she would have only had half an hour to play anyway. I told her I knew the truth about what had happened, and told her there was no point in lying when she knew Christine and I talk. I told her if there are 2 things I will absolutely not tolerate from her, it is violence and lying. She acted like I was being completely unreasonable for even bringing it up, let alone punishing her. I swear she thinks she's queen of the world or something.

My dad just found out he has Osteoporosis. He had shrunk 3", which is what caught the doctors' attention. Apparently, one of the causes is cancer treatment, which he had a few times because of bladder cancer. The poor guy can't get a break when it comes to his health. He also has Multiple Sclerosis (we've known that for years), and it makes him dizzy and he's always losing his balance. Add feeble bones from the Osteoporosis, and that worries me that he's going to fall and break something one day. We need to talk him into getting a cane or walker or something, but I doubt he'll do it. He doesn't want to admit to getting older. He won't wear his hearing aids, so we have to shout at him all the time to get him to hear us. Jeez.
