I left work at 3:15 and headed out to get Casey. On my way there, I sneezed about 15 times in a row. I don't know what was going on in my nose, but it was annoying.
So, I picked her up from after school care at 3:40, so we were making pretty good time. But when I got there, she said she had hurt herself in gymnastics and was having a hard time walking. Apparently, they had been jumping on this blow up trampoline, and the teacher said he was going to deflate it but Casey didn't hear him, so she jumped up in the air and landed on her butt on the hard ground. Ow. She started crying and telling me it hurt and she didn't want to go to the appointment. She just wanted to go home and lie down. I told her first of all, it's a 45 minute drive and just this once, she could lie down in the back seat if she wanted to. But also, we can't just cancel this close to the appointment time. And I said the guy we were going to see was an actual doctor, so maybe he could look at it. But we drove through McDonalds so I could get her some ice to sit on for the drive. I decided that while we were doing that, we'd just get an early dinner, since she said she was hungry and I was too.
I had gotten a cup of ice, and they gave it to me in one of those drink holders. Well, as I pulled out of the drive through and turned, it fell over and spilled ice all over the car. So I had to park, get out and go pull ice out from under the passenger seat. I don't think I got it all. I put what ice I was able to retreive into a plastic shopping bag and gave it to Casey to sit on. She claimed it helped. She's fine now, but I also gave her some Tylenol chewables. She has to take 5 because of her age. Um... that's a good sign you're too old for chewables. But she refuses to take the kind you swallow. Whatever.
So then the traffic was horrendous. Most of the drive is on the highway, and it was rush hour so we barely moved. All these issues combined caused us to be more than 10 minutes late to the appointment, and they said it was too late. So I left work early and spent over an hour driving in freaking traffic for nothing. But it kind of worked out in the end, because it turns out they had scheduled her with the wrong person. The guy she was supposed to see today doesn't usually deal with kids. So they re-scheduled her with a woman named Dr. Benson (I think) for sometime in April. I'm not really in a hurry for that appointment anyway, because I know she doesn't need meds. It's really just a technicality. So tomorrow we get to go see Beth, the counselor.
I'm starting to tape Ellen every day. I have a good reason, other than loving her to death. She has been asking for pictures of people on rides and also some of unusual or interesting pairs, and yesterday when I was at home waiting for my car to be fixed, I went through all my pictures and sent in a bunch. So now I'm watching to see if they show mine. Anyway, today she had Robert Downey Junior on. I heart him. Out of all the world's celebrities, he's the one that could turn me to jello the most. Of course, he's not looking as great as he used to due to age and massive drug use. But I love watching his old movies. He makes me go all ga ga. Like Heart and Soul. and what was it... Say Anything? LOVE.
Casey has decided tonight's game is making Willow bark, and it's driving me nuts. I'm going to throw them both out the window in a minute.
It's almost time for American Idol. Go Taylor. Go Taylor. Go. Go. Go Taylor. I like Chris too. Casey said "if you look close at his eyes, you can see twinkles."
