New Vid - Prison Break "Sacrifice" (Michael Centric)

May 20, 2007 19:47

I decided to post my vids here as well cause my blog seem to have lots of problems lately....

Please refrain from distributing...

Description : Michael Centric with Lincoln and Sara. The video narrates the journey of Michael through Season 2 : running, dealing with regrets and mistakes and sacrifices. I hope it shows what lead him to do the sacrifices he made.

Music: "Elisium" and "Sorrow" by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator SoundTrack), "Running One" by Tykwer/Klimek/Heil

Notes: My goal was to display the struggle inside Michael's character, the constant reminder of what he did and how he must live with it. I also wanted to show his desire to make everything right will leads him to the sacrifice he makes in the end. Lincoln and Sara hence have a presence over the video without shadowing Michael because without them, he has no reason to do what he's doing. I wanted to properly describe the character's journey while remaining true to the show. I hope I did *cross fingers*

I used a similar structure than "My Life In 3 Parts" last year, meaning several songs for several aspects of the character as I didn't find a song that would fit what I was trying to do. It was a bit risky as it harder to have a coherent ensemble this way but I still hope it worked. I worked on the music a lot at first, deleted and remixed some parts, to create something that would flow naturaly without boring the viewer (especially during the action part). I worked on the overall rythmn of the video, and aimed at having a good balance between action and "drama". I tried to prevent the "entertainement" factor from fading half way through the vid and tried to built a growing action to do that. I also experimented a bit with sounds and music mix to enhance some "memory struggle" moments. I hope it paid off.
The action part was actually the trickiest for me, as I'm so much more confortable with character oriented slow-paced vid. Prison Break doesn't really have blow away source material. I really had to dig up to find  enough shots action-oriented. Overall, it ended up challenging me so I guess that's a good thing.
I also used bits of dialogue again, as I think it can really add an emotionnal layer to the vid, especially when there's no lyrics.

I hope some of you will like it :). Feel free to leave a comment, it's greatly appreciated :)
