Question for recently married folks (well, the girls)

So I need to change my name & I'm not sure how exactly this works (yes, I googled).

I know I need to go to the social security place to get a new ss card first...
Does anyone know if i get the new card that day?
Or if it has to be mailed to me?

Also.. do I need an appointment?

Anything I should know about changing junk at the DMV? Hassles? Stuff to be aware of?
