My current Christmas music playlist, which got me through loads of spreadsheet-headache hell today at work:
"Lonely Christmas Eve" - Ben Folds [I love Ben Folds--especially cranky Ben Folds ;)]
"Christmas Is All Around" - Billy Mack [Irascible, washed-up rockstar Bill Nighy? OH YEAH.]
"Give Me A Second Chance For Christmas" - Candy Butchers [Creepy, kind of stalkery, but he *loves* you?]
"All The Right Reasons" - Dressy Bessy [Pure pop goodness in retro boots.]
"A Christmas Duel" - Cyndi Lauper vs. The Hives [Snarky-delicious Christmas sparring.]
"I Want An Alien For Christmas" - Fountains of Wayne [Dude! Who doesn't?]
"Hating You For Christmas" - Everclear [Self explanatory, but lots of fun. Especially for AMANDA. Muhahaha.]
"Sometimes You Have To Work On Christmas" - Harvey Danger [The saddest, most beautifully picturesque Christmas song you'll ever hear.]
"Last Christmas" - Jimmy Eat World [Solid, pretty cover of an old Wham hit.]
"Make It Home" - Juliana Hatfield [Swoony, wistful tune from one of my favorite ladies.]
"You're All I Want For Christmas" - Jump, Little Children [Swingy and sassy--wait for the sexy Mattness!]
"Do They Know It's Christmas" - Barenaked Ladies [Updated cover of that old Live Aid charity song. I like it, but then I'm a sucker for the 80's, so there you go.]
"Winter Wonderland" - Phantom Planet [Funky-fun cover with great instrumentation. Love!]
"The Christmas Song" - The Raveonettes [A slow, sweet, twangy duet. This is officially one of my favorite Christmas songs ever.]
"Hark The Herald Angels Sing, Carol of the Bells" - Shedaisy [Bombastic builds and fades with huge, soaring, sweeping vocals--Christmas is now officially IN YOUR FACE.]
"Christmas Day" - Squeeze [Piano + drum machine + 80's synthesizer = holiday goodness!]
"Chiron Beta Prime" - Jonathan Coulton [Sung as a holiday newsletter from futuristic humans ruled by their ROBOT OVERLORDS. Mining and soylent green never sounded so joyful!]
"Countdown To Christmas Party Time" - XTC [It was a hard choice between this one and "Thanks For Christmas", but its jauntiness and the booming "AAAAAH, it's CHRISTMAS!" chorus won me over.]
Honorable Mention Multiples: "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (x3) - the Mariah Carey, Olivia Olson, and Candy Butchers versions, and all 3 of Adam Sandler's "Chanukah" songs. Not gonna lie, they make me smile. Not a guilty pleasure in the bunch!
What holiday tunes are you guys listening to? Got any festive recommendations?
