The unique thing about humans is that we have the ability to make these connections in life which we put through tests in order to derive a true or false statement from. Example: you take a story you read in a book written in the 1800s or so, and later you hear about the same series of events on the news on say the 50th anniversary of the publication of that book. Then the mind would look for any previous events in 50 year intervals after the publication of the book or look for any books with the same series of events to determine if what you speculate is true or false. If statement = true; then the future = predetermined. Scientists have been doing this sort of thing since the beginning of history…. Making connections and performing tests is a trait of the human race that has contributed to our own evolution as a species. At one point people thought it was ridiculous to think the world is round, at one point people thought flying through the air inside these giant metal birds was something out of sci-fi books. I guess what I’m getting at is that if human beings have the ability to travel into outer space at this day and age then what could the future possibly have in store? Take for example George Orwell’s 1984 written in 1948 and he depicted quite accurately what life would be like if we lived in a communist society in 1984. When the book was released it was seen as way too far-fetched and even horrific, yet some communist societies in reality are far worse than depicted in that book. The digital revolution has happened mostly in the past 20 - 30 years… that’s merely a single generation. These advances in our society are getting closer and closer together, soon we will see a new evolution perpetuating itself within our lifetime. It sounds silly to say but the concept of artificial intelligence in the terminator movies is not that far off. These connections that we make will in fact bring about advances in our society more extraordinary than the last. Can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.
