Odd. I can understand *why* they prefer the hyphen in the URL bar, and adjust the visible url - hyphens are not strictly valid as characters in the domain name, and are not generally used in subdomains either, and in any respect are easier to spot in the address bar, and less likely to be confused for spaces on a casual glance/by those of poor eyesight, but I'm not sure why they'd stop converting one to the other when they have before.
I'd note that the reason that LJ moved away from the old /users/username format is that there's a cookies-related security flaw in some browsers that is made exploitable by that format, so I'd advise people like Tony to take advantage of the free rename.
