Where have all the good horror films gone?

I like a good horror film every now and then. I have attempted to see a good horror film every now and then, but apparently the Hollywood gods are against me.

Last night I went to see The Hills Have Eyes. Although this is a remake, the original was directed by Wes Craven, this story sounded like it had a lot of potential for an enjoyable horror flick.

"A family road trip goes terrifyingly awry when the travelers become stranded in a government atomic zone. Miles from nowhere, the Carters soon realize the seemingly uninhabited wasteland is actually the breeding ground of a blood-thirsty mutant family...and they are the prey."

A. suggested that we check it out and after checking out the trailer, I agreed. Boy, did we regretted it. DO NOT BOTHER SEEING THIS MOVIE! I don't normally walk out of a movie, but after watching about an hour of this film, we were so disgusted, we had to leave. As if it wasn't bad enough watching the father burn to death while the family watched helplessly, but what really fucked with me was watching the two sisters get raped. There was so much unnecessary gore and violence that I just left the theater feeling sick to my stomach.

I haven't walked out on a movie in 5 years and the last time was Shrek. In that case, I was with my sister and we stuck out most of it. We only left at the very ending once it was abundantly clear how this predictable movie was ending.

I just wanted to see a good horror film. Why must it be so hard!

At least V for Vendetta is coming out next weekend! Yay!
