Sorry guys I gotta get this out. And I gotta do it here cause otherwise she'll read it. I think shannon and I just had our first legit disagreement. We were watching the Dark Knight. And there is a scene where basically there are two boats (one full of criminals and one with just regular citizens) each boat has a remote control detenator to blow up the other boat. The Joker tells them if they don't blow up the boat they'll both die. That's all the background you really need. I don't wanna ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it so I'll try my hardest not to. The unspoken argument was that she believes all people in prison deserve to die.
Now the ironic thing is that as we were watching this scene I was finding prison penpals to write to and give hope. So obviously I don't feel the same way. Actually it's deeper than that. I don't exactly know why because I have never known anyone that's gone to prison before but I am extremely sensitive on this argument. I am very much against the death sentence and I am very much for the idea that prisoners are people to. I think it stems from the fact that I don't believe people should be judged solely on their worst mistake. I know I wouldn't want to be. Yes, they have made bad choices that would lead them to prison but that doesn't make them a bad person. I don't believe in bad people. I believe everyone has the potential to be good or bad. Life is a bunch of choices and yeah as human beings sometimes we make the wrong choices.
But everybody deserves a second chance and these people have never done anything wrong to me so I hold nothing against them. So yeah end of rant.
