You just have to set your standards lower in Northern CA. There are places in the country where it's pretty cheap to live. It does mean you'd be in the middle of nowhere.
I got kick out you saying that you have to lower your standards living in NoCal. I guess it would be hard living in a city that has only one Apple store, and only one sushi bar ever third block. I actualling thought that your area was pretty cool, and if I didn't have these deer, and a ball and chain around my foot, I would be way there.
Now out my way, you really have to lower your standards. People who think that they are wealthy wouldn't be able to handle it in a big city. The job market really sucks out this way, and there are way to may power hungry people mixed in with the lazy ones.
Actually, I mean just that. There are places in Northern California where you can really live in the middle of nowhere. A friend of mine lived 2 miles from the nearest paved road. From there it was 5 miles to the nearest "town." From there it was a nother 30 miles to the nearest traffic light (with maybe another small town in between). And the nearst big city that you'd recognize the name of was actually about 90 miles away from his place, and wasn't even in the same state. As for an Apple store? I'd say it was at least that 90+ miles away
