Summer's over
Well, summer is over. All of the kids are going back to school; bummer huh? I'm actually really excited for this fall because I am taking the semester off from school. so this will be my first fall in 22 years that I won't be in school! which is great because I love the fall, but going back to school is always kind of a bummer.
so a lot has happened. we basically smoked weed and sat on the back porch all summer. I got the wireless internet to work, so I do a lot of stuff for the band. For the first time we feel like a real band. we just got two shows in Pittsburgh. One with HotChaCha from Cleveland and the other with THE BLACK ANGELS!!! Both shows are going to be sweet, but obviously I am so pumped about the black angels. It's like a grew up with those guys. I think i saw them right after I got out of school? or maybe it was the summer of 11th grade, but i remember thinking how cool it would be to be in a band like that. Then the last time we saw them they brought a really shitty band and I thought, hey, fillmore jive is better than them, and now will can show that! I really hope the show helps us a lot. I have faith that we'll be able to play in pittsburgh now and have a pretty good following. that will be nice. I'm really hoping the black angels like us and like say we can play in austin, but i'm not keeping my hopes up. I know that they probably don't even waste their time watching the bands because most of them truly suck!!
so a lot of band stuff. we go out and do something most nights though. I remember at the beggining of the summer we went out smoking with tyshon a lot. or just coming home and baking on the back porch. once we got back from new york gina's mom let us smoke inside which was nice. we all get along a lot better now. i liked watching movies like fear and loathing in las vegas out on the back porch at night and smoking blunts.
we hang out with album a lot. we did a show with them last saturday. it was great; there were a lot of people there, and we played good and everyone went crazy for us. I think even more people were there to see us then album. we got the show recorded and it really opened my eyes. I can't believe how good fillmore jive is! I had no clue that we have turned from a shitty garage band into the psychedelic wet dream i wanted. it's great! it's so fuzzy and loud, and my vocals sound like wooden shjips/spacemen 3. NICE! so it was a great night. gina's parents came, so it was kind of wierd being in party mode around gina's dad. her cousin damon; and sarah came too. I play damon's old guitar and amp, so i think he thought it was so crazy what i do compared to what he did. after the show we went to siara's trailor in north lima. we smoked a lot of grass including a whole 8th of drow given to us by billy. josh had a really sweet bong that we filled up with over a dime of weed at once! amazing for us who can only fit a couple grains into our little shit of a thing.... but it was a fun night, except j.t. was there and he was being all drunk and fucked up. he yelled at me for not playing ultrasonic, so i made him look like a dumbass. he like tried to make me drink this water he spit in or something, but i was like; j.t. your stupid.
the next day was vexfest, and it was super lame. they forgot about fillmore jive and then made up for it by putting us first on the worst stage. during our set some guy tried to turn my amp down while i was playing. me and gina kindly told him to fuck off. the only good thing about vexfest was the free food. even all of the bands sucked! I just don't understand, 10,000 people come out for the shittiest show of the year, but 500 people won't go to a really great show? anyways, after we went to sloppy joe's and burned a little. he made some homemade pizza that was super spicy; burned, but very tastey. we left around 9 and went to kenny's parents house in north lima. kenny was knocked out from 48 hours of partying and jon butterly was there with his girlfriend. it was fun to jumped around in the dance studio where they have the balance beems and those bars you swing on; plus trampoleins and stuff. after we went in the hot tub with katie. it was fun for a little but got very hot, and i got too tired from partying all day.
sometime last week we went to pittsburgh to promote our show. we wanted to get to pittsburgh early, but traffix was horrible!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!! there was so much "construction" which really was them blocking off lanes for no reason! there were no workers, no work being done, nothing even touched!!!! JUST FUCKING ORANGE BARRIERS EVERYWHERE!!! rediculous. so we were mega late. we went to the south side shortly and then went to damon's. he took us to this sweet vegetarian indian place. i will make a note that there was another traffic jam on the way there. so we ate there. my food was good, but basically really buttered up mashed potatoes wrapped in this giant rice wrap. a little fattening. we also got some rose ice cream for dessert, that was quite tasty. after this we went to howler's and promoted, then headed to New Brighten to burn one with Dale. then home.
Friday we went with josh to his friend kyle's house in rogers. kyle is in this big pop punk band that goes on van's warped tour and everything. he is a little weird because of the whole pop punk thing, but he's still nice and pretty cool. we smoked his volcanoe vaporiser and a fiew blunts. god damn! worked like a charm. we were so baked we just went home around 1. Saturday we drove up to good old akron. gina was in a pissy mood and didn't want to stay in party!??>?!??!?! what the fuck! it was even kyle's last day to smoke for a month. so we met ricky at highland square and drove to tirnan's. at tirnan's i helped ricky work my vocal processor and they finished working on their new album. their tracks actually sound really sweet, i can't wait to hear the whole album, they have really added a lot. after this we smoked a blunt with kyle and tirnan and went to see ian's band, but they went on too late and we just went home and partied there.
right now I'm sitting on the back porch listening to the entrance band. I have to say, i am really mad at myself for not writing in my lj about last winter. It was like my rebirth. I became a man over this winter. and one of the most important thing was meeting the hobs and going to akron every weekend where everyone thinks we are so cool! first time i ever got that in my life. anyways we met the hobs at a show at now, that's class in cleveland. then in January of this year we asked them to play a show with us a cedar's. after that it's all history. we went up to akron with tyshon one night to see album. it was a great night, we smoked gina's bowl and drove around lost all night trying to find a street in a town we had never driven in. eventually we found the house but were too scared to go in, so we went home. the next week the hobs were playing at jb's in kent. we were late for the show but went back to the same house in akron on cloverfield to party. that night was one of the best nights of mmy life. we met kyle, megan pengle, liz and everyone else. it was great. we smoked more weed then I've ever smoked and just laughed and had great times all night. the house was so dirty, but so much fun. there were parties upstairs in the atyic where we smoked with joe!!!! then on the second floor in joe's room and the abandoned room, then on the main floor they played beer pong on the kitchen table and then in the basement where on the first night we smoked the smallest roach ever with RONNIE!!! after this we went to akron so many times. we used to drive up in the snow listening to The Entrance Band and My Bloody Valentine. It was just so beautiful being high, going to zub's, partying on cloverdale. just the feeeling of waking up in ricky's room on a dirty mattress with everyone else asleep. it was so cold, but so nice. I'd look out the window and it was so ugly, but I felt like I was in a movie, almost like Gangs of new york. me and gina used to get up early and get breakfast at wally waffles or the akron diner. we even brought zack a couple of times! so many good times, i really loved it.
I remember one night, we had a show witht the hobs at The Lemon Grove in March. after the show i had to drop off tyshon, gina's mom, tampa joe and someone else in New Castle and then come back and meet the hobs and then we were going to party in akron that night. I left at like 2:30 and got back around four. we all drove to cloverdale and then drove to get a he-man breakfast with kyle, tirnan, ricky, ronnie, me, gina and andy stauffer was passed out in the back of the van ALL NIGHT! so we came back, slept for a couple hours in ricky's room in the attic, and then in the morning, andy rose like a pheonix out of the ashes into the attic, and we screamed HE LIVES! and then we smoked weed, drank red bull and went to the ledges. it was like the first day of spring and so beautiful. I remember walking through the grass and thinking, hey i used to step here and there was a lot snow. we even smoked a blunt with joe that morning on the porch. LOVE THOSE TIMES!
so anyways. last night we hung out with album in rogers at winfield's house, even though winfield and his parents weren't there. kyle was there. we smoked a lot of weed and watched wrestling. it was fun.
