woooooooooooooooork it.
haha, so today was my third day at work. for those of you who dont' know yet, i finally got a full-time job! hooray for annual salaries! hooray for medical insurance! hooray for my own office! my own computer! whooooo.
haha. so anyway, i finally found out my title: executive assistant. i really don't know what that means, but she says it's not an administrative assistant, nor is it a secretary. we already have those people. i work directly with the executive director about grants and proposals and stuff, so it's cool.
so anyway, i'm finding out a LOT about my chinese school that i didn't knwo before. i mean, i knew we were a nonprofit organization, but for some reason, that immediately makes me think: poor. hahaa. is taht bad? oh well. but yeah, after goign through some files and reading some proposals, i'm realizing more and more that we are SO rich. we should stop calling ourselves a nonprofit organization! haha. but i guess if we did that, then our money wouldn't come in, and we'd REALLY be poor.
so yeah, we're a Untied Way agency, and the SECOND most funded one at that. united way gives us about 85% of our funds, and the rest are from large corporate foundations like shell/exxonmobil, hp, american express, even the rockets!!! hahaa. and it's crazy cuz we get around $1.8 million a year from these funds! isn't that insane?! hahaha. seriously, they could afford to pay me better. HAHAHAA. just kiddnig. i mean, it's not like i really have to pay any rent or anything right now, so whatever.
but yeah, when i took this job, i was really skeptical about whether or not i would like it, but MAN, i love it. haha. or maybe i'm just saying that cuz it's only the third day. but there are a ton more up sides than downs. the benefits here are SO incredibly good. better than my mom's, and almost as good as my dad's (and he's been working at williams' for over 15 years now). so yeah, i enjoy that part of it. too bad i can't technically take any vacation days til after i've been here 6 months. ahhh it's okay.
you know what the board of directors gave the administrative staff last year for christmas?? THESE:
