Mix Tape

As we read the poem Love and other Catastrophes: A mix Tape by Amanda Holzer, I really enjoyed this one and it quickly became my favorite poem ever. First off, just because of the fact that it did word things all frilly and weird to where you had to use context clues to figure out what was going on. It was just straight forward. Second, because I love how she used song titles to tell the story rather than just writing and I love the fact that you can actually go and download all the music and pout it on a CD where you can listen all the way through. And I was surprised to find that the songs actually flow together nicely. The words don’t really have a double meaning, so that was nice.

I also liked the part where we had the chance to make our own Mix Tape poem, that really cool. Probably my favorite quiz we did so far. Another reason why this poem quickly became my favorite was just because of what it was saying. I really feel like out of all of the stuff we have read, this one really related most to our age group so that would be mostly why everyone really enjoyed it and why it was such a hit with everyone in class. And probably why everyone did so well on it and was excited to make our own.

I really would have wanted to read more like this, but since this was English class we have to learn other styles as well, but I really enjoyed this one.
