"Oww..." She groaned. "Aigis-san, are you okay?"

"I am fine," she answered, recapping her fingers in one quick movement. "Why? Is there a cause for concern?" Oblivious but not unfeeling, she abandoned her focus for the moment and walked over to crouch down beside Nozomi, checking to see if the girl was harmed in any way. "Are you alright, Yumehara-san?"

"My apologies," she said, offering a hand to help Nozomi up. "I did not mean to create a disturbance. I was only running tests on my systems to check that all mechanics were operating as they should. I will try not to startle you in future."

Somehow, running into the robot/cyborg/whatever-she-was didn't surprise him. Still, Joshua kept his distance, for the moment.
"You have weapons?"

She nodded mechanically, keeping her arms down for the moment. "I have in-built weaponry and Persona-summoning ability. My primary function was to be a battle unit."

"Battle against what?"

She looked up when she was spoken to. "We call them Shadows," she told him. "They are beings that only appear during the Dark Hour, and are a physical manifestation of human masks. If attacked, a regular person will revert to a near-comatose state known as Apathy Syndrome. It is my duty to destroy these Shadows."

By sheerest instinct, Roxas didn't waste energy by running. Over the months, he'd memorized the areas with a sort of vicious, detailed sharpness that came of having too much time to waste. Darkness unraveled around him to leave him a few feet from the forest outskirts. He yanked Keyblades out of the empty air, and they swung down in his hands in a vicious flare of light. He turned--
--only to find that it wasn't anyone he knew after all. A girl with her hands outstretched, and no hooded figures in sight. Still, Roxas didn't lower his guard.
"What was that?"

"I apologise," she said, bowing her head briefly. "I have been running status checks on my systems, and weaponry runs are a requirement of that. I did not mean to startle anyone."
